Reconsidering stepped wedge cluster randomized trial designs with implementation periods: Fewer sequences or the parallel-group design with baseline and implementation periods are potentially more efficient
CONCLUSION: If a three-sequence stepped wedge design with implementation periods is being considered for a future cluster randomized trial, then a corresponding modified design using only the first and last sequences should be considered if sole focus is on efficiency. However, a parallel-group design with baseline and implementation periods and analysis of covariance-based analysis can be a practical, efficient alternative. For stepped wedge designs with implementation periods and a larger number of sequences, modified versions that remove 'middle' sequences should be considered. Due to the potential sensitivity of design...

Assessing current clinical eruption stage of mandibular third molars by dental panoramic radiography
CONCLUSION: All teeth below or at the CE junction are clinically unerupted. Above the CE junction, stage of eruption should be assessed together with the inclination, but horizontally inclined teeth are recommended to be verified clinically.PMID:38651519 | DOI:10.2340/aos.v83.40477 (Source: Acta Odontologica Scandinavica)

Increased mortality in acromegaly is due to vascular and respiratory disease and is normalised by control of GH levels-A retrospective analysis from the UK Acromegaly Register 1970-2016
CONCLUSION: Acromegaly is associated with increased incidence of all cancers but not thyroid or colon cancer and no increase in cancer mortality. Excess mortality is due to vascular and respiratory disease. The risk is highest in the first 5 years following diagnosis and is mitigated by normalising GH levels.PMID:38652736 | DOI:10.1111/cen.15060 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Transversus Abdominis Plane Block versus Epidural Anesthesia for Pain Management Post-Caesarean Delivery: A Pilot Study
CONCLUSION: The TAP block proves advantageous in mitigating postoperative pain for women post-caesarean delivery, particularly in the initial 6 postpartum hours. This relief promotes early mother-infant bonding and facilitates breastfeeding.PMID:38650746 | PMC:PMC11033210 | DOI:10.2147/LRA.S444947 (Source: Local and Regional Anesthesia)

Association of the multi-biomarker disease activity score with arterial 18-fluorodeoxyglucose uptake in rheumatoid arthritis
CONCLUSIONS: Among treated RA patients, achieved MBDA predicts of changes in arterial inflammation. Achieving low MBDA at 24 weeks was associated with clinically meaningful reductions in arterial inflammation, regardless of treatment.PMID:38652572 | DOI:10.1093/rheumatology/keae242 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Mini-Z validation for burnout and stress evaluation: an observational study
CONCLUSIONS: Burnout is very common among employees and especially among healthcare workers and a routine assessment seems to be necessary to be able to prevent the syndrome. The Italian version of the Mini-Z includes ten items, is more user-friendly and aims to assess not only Burnout subscales, as in the previous tests, but also well-being factors and has applied a rigorous approach, including forward translation, back translation and cognitive debriefing.PMID:38651774 | DOI:10.1708/4259.42359 (Source: Rivista di Psichiatria)

Phase 1/2 Randomized Clinical Trial of In-clinic acupuncture Prior to Bacillus Calmette-Gu érin in Patients with High-risk Non-muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Acupuncture prior to induction BCG treatments is feasible and safe. In this phase 1/2 trial, improved urinary function scores were observed among patients undergoing acupuncture. Patients receiving acupuncture reported high degrees of satisfaction with treatments.PATIENT SUMMARY: We evaluated the safety and feasibility of delivering acupuncture in a urology clinic prior to weekly intravesical bladder cancer treatments with bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) in a randomized controlled trial. We found that acupuncture could be delivered safely prior to weekly BCG instillations and that the use of acupuncture was as...

Analyzing and Assessing the Current Status of Heat-Related Illnesses in the South Korean Military
CONCLUSION: The army reported the highest number of heat-related illnesses among military branches, with soldiers comprising the majority of cases. This highlights the urgent need for enhanced heat illness prevention measures within army ranks. Notably, the incidence of these illnesses peaked during July and August, underlining the critical periods for intensified preventive efforts.PMID:38651564 | DOI:10.1093/milmed/usae115 (Source: Military Medicine)

Climate Change Curricula in Family Medicine Residency Programs: Program Directors' Perspectives From a CERA Survey
CONCLUSIONS: While climate change is an emerging topic affecting health and the provision of health care worldwide, our study suggests that many family medicine residency programs do not teach about it. Family medicine trainees may not always receive sufficient education about the risks posed to their patients by climate change, which could lead to them having limited knowledge and skills when discussing this topic with their patients in the future.PMID:38652853 | DOI:10.22454/FamMed.2024.548752 (Source: Family Medicine)

Inter-observer variation of head and foot point selection for subject height determination
This study demonstrated that factors such as the suspect's proximity to the camera and suspect's headwear affected the variability and range of marking, which has a direct correlation to the estimated height of the suspect. In general, when the region to be marked was larger, the variability was also larger. This study also demonstrates that marking errors were significantly reduced when discrete marking locations were present such as on a height scale. The average percentage difference of height was most notable, approximately 3%, when the suspect was wearing a hoodie and was at a position closest to the camera. The range...

COVID-19 Vaccine Intention Among Iranian Health Workers: Application of the HBM Model
Soc Work Public Health. 2024 Apr 23:1-10. doi: 10.1080/19371918.2024.2325553. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe study aimed to determine the application of the health belief model (HBM) in the acceptance of COVID-19 vaccination among health workers in 2021. The cross-sectional study was conducted on 3600 health workers from February to March 2021. Data was collected using a researcher-made questionnaire that included the intention to receive vaccines based on the health belief model constructs. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics indicators, Chi-square, ANOVA test, and logistic regression model at a 95% confide...
