Patient With Gender Dysphoria Diagnosed With Multiple Sclerosis Following Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy and Ventricular Arrhythmia: A Case Report and Systematic Literature Review
In this report, we also systematically reviewed published cases of takotsubo cardiomyopathy and MS and found that basal type takotsubo cardiomyopathy was the most common, and most patients presented with brainstem involvement of MS. An awareness of these associations by physicians, along with multidisciplinary collaboration, may facilitate the early diagnosis and improve the prognosis of these patients.PMID:38599863 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.3442-23 (Source: Internal Medicine)

Spinet-QSM: model-based deep learning with schatten p-norm regularization for improved quantitative susceptibility mapping
ConclusionThe proposed SpiNet-QSM showed a consistent improvement of at least 5% in terms of the high-frequency error norm (HFEN) and normalized root mean squared error (NRMSE) over other QSM reconstruction methods with limited training data. Understanding exosomes: Part 2-Emerging leaders in regenerative medicine
Periodontol 2000. 2024 Apr 9. doi: 10.1111/prd.12561. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTExosomes are the smallest subset of extracellular signaling vesicles secreted by most cells with the ability to communicate with other tissues and cell types over long distances. Their use in regenerative medicine has gained tremendous momentum recently due to their ability to be utilized as therapeutic options for a wide array of diseases/conditions. Over 5000 publications are currently being published yearly on this topic, and this number is only expected to dramatically increase as novel therapeutic strategies continue to be developed. T...

Conversion of Astrocyte Cell Lines to Oligodendrocyte Progenitor Cells Using Small Molecules and Transplantation to Animal Model of Multiple Sclerosis
In this study, we present a cocktail of small molecules that target different signaling pathways to promote astrocyte conversion to OPCs. Astrocytes were transferred to an OPC medium and exposed for five days to a small molecule cocktail containing CHIR99021, Forskolin, Repsox, LDN, VPA and Thiazovivin before being preserved in the OPC medium for an additional 10 days. Once reaching the OPC morphology, induced cells underwent immunocytofluorescence evaluation for OPC markers while checked for lacking the astrocyte markers. To test the in vivo differentiation capabilities, induced OPCs were transplanted into demyelinated mi...

Earlier age of symptom onset in younger generation of familial cases of multiple sclerosis
ConclusionIn our study, the analysis of fMS cases across generations, showed an earlier age of symptom onset in the younger generation, even after adjustment. These results indicate the possibility of existence of anticipation phenomenon. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Cladribine tablets after treatment with natalizumab (CLADRINA) - rationale and design
DISCUSSION: The CLADRINA trial will generate data regarding the safety, efficacy, and immunological impact of the transition from natalizumab to cladribine. As the pace of immunological knowledge of MS continues, insight into disease modifying therapy transition strategies is needed.PMID:38585373 | PMC:PMC10996356 | DOI:10.1177/17562864241233858 (Source: Adv Data)
