Clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic factors in invasive micropapillary carcinoma of the breast
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of micropapillary IMPC, among other pathological subtypes, is steadily increasing. ER-positive and PR-positive rates, as well as luminal subtypes, are frequent, with a concurrent increase in the 5-year locoregional recurrence rate. It would be interesting to compare the effect following these therapeutic modifications in larger cohorts in future studies.PMID:38757040 | PMC:PMC11094864 | DOI:10.5114/aoms/173213 (Source: Archives of Medical Science)

Nat Prod Res. 2024 May 17:1-6. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2024.2352867. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPhytochemical investigation through cytotoxicity bioassay-guided isolation of Geniotrigona thoracica propolis led to the identification of five cycloartane-type triterpenes, including mangiferonic acid 1, ambonic acid 2, mangiferolic acid 3, ambolic acid 4 and cycloartenol 5. Their structures were established based on detailed spectroscopic analysis and comparison with literature data. Compounds 1-5 were isolated for the first time in this species. From cytotoxicity MTT assay, compound 3 inhibited the growth of breast (MCF-7) a...

Design, synthesis of combretastatin A-4 piperazine derivatives as potential antitumor agents by inhibiting tubulin polymerization and inducing autophagy in HCT116 cells
Eur J Med Chem. 2024 May 13;272:116497. doi: 10.1016/j.ejmech.2024.116497. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA series of combretastatin A-4 (CA-4) derivatives were designed and synthesized, which contain stilbene core structure with different linker, predominantly piperazine derivatives. These compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against four cancer cell lines, HCT116, A549, AGS, and SK-MES-1. Among them, compound 13 displayed the best effectiveness with IC50 values of 0.227 μM and 0.253 μM against HCT116 and A549 cells, respectively, showing low toxicity to normal cells. Mechanistic studies showed that 13...

A long ‑term complete response to namodenoson in liver cancer with Child‑Pugh B cirrhosis: A case report
Exp Ther Med. 2024 Apr 24;27(6):263. doi: 10.3892/etm.2024.12551. eCollection 2024 Jun.ABSTRACTEstablished treatments for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with Child-Pugh cirrhosis B (CPB, moderate hepatic dysfunction) are lacking. A recently published randomized phase 2 study in CPB HCC investigating the safety and efficacy of namodenoson (25 mg BID), an A3 adenosine-receptor agonist vs. placebo, suggested a favorable safety profile and a positive efficacy signal in patients with HCC with a CPB score of 7 (CPB7). The present study reports a 61-year-old woman with CPB7 HCC who received namodenoson for over 6 years t...

Screening for ferroptosis genes related to endometrial carcinoma and predicting of targeted drugs based on bioinformatics
Arch Toxicol. 2024 May 17. doi: 10.1007/s00204-024-03783-6. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEndometrial carcinoma is one of most common malignant tumors in women, and ferroptosis is closely related to the development and treatment of endometrial carcinoma. The aim of this study was to screen ferroptosis-related genes associated with endometrial carcinoma and predict targeted drugs through bioinformatics. 761 differentially expressed genes were obtained by the dataset GSE63678 from the GEO database, and most of the genes were enriched in the KEGG_CELL_CYCLE and KEGG_OOCYTE_MEIOSIS signaling pathways. 22 ferroptosis-differenti...

Decisional and prognostic impact of diagnostic ureteroscopy in high-risk upper tract urothelial carcinoma: A multi-institutional collaborative analysis (ROBUUST collaborative group)
CONCLUSIONS: The advantage in terms of OS and CSS in patients undergoing preoperative URS could derive from a better selection of candidates for curative treatment. The treatment strategy is likely more influenced by tumor features than by URS findings.PMID:38760274 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2024.04.021 (Source: Urologic Oncology)

Evaluation of image-pro plus assisted superb microvascular imaging for differential diagnosis of renal masses
CONCLUSION: VI was higher in malignant than benign in renal masses. In malignant masses, VI in CCRCC was higher than that in papillary renal cell carcinoma and ChRCC. As a noninvasive examination, it had important clinical significance in the differential diagnosis of renal masses. VI from IPP may assist sonographer in distinguish renal malignances as a quantitative tool for vascularity.PMID:38760275 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2024.04.026 (Source: Urologic Oncology)
