Recurrence in lobular carcinoma of the breast: A 14-year review
CONCLUSION: There are clinical implications for the management and follow-up for patients with a diagnosis of lobular cancer of the breast. Due to the low recurrence rate, now, the standard practice in our institution does not offer magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as part of the follow-up for ILC patients. Other centres should establish local recurrence rates to aid development of appropriate management protocols.PMID:38804125 | DOI:10.1111/1754-9485.13715 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors : Current review
Radiologie (Heidelb). 2024 May 28. doi: 10.1007/s00117-024-01319-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCLINICAL ISSUE: Neuroendocrine neoplasms of the lung are a heterogenous tumor group. The pathological classification comprises diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia, classic neuroendocrine tumors, and neuroendocrine carcinoma. Classic neuroendocrine tumors include typical and atypical carcinoid tumors.DIAGNOSTIC WORK-UP: Imaging plays an important role in diagnosis and can help in identifying the tumor biology. Overall, this tumor group is rare, comprising less than 2% of all thoracic tumors.PRACTICAL RE...

Efficacy and safety of lenvatinib combined with PD ‑1/PD‑L1 inhibitors in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma: A meta‑analysis and systematic review
Oncol Lett. 2024 May 14;28(1):312. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14445. eCollection 2024 Jul.ABSTRACTA meta-analysis of the clinical survival indicators, adverse reactions and safety of lenvatinib combined with programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitors in treating liver cancer was conducted, providing objective and effective evidence for clinical use. The present study is anticipated to guide the clinical application of lenvatinib. In the current meta-analysis, the PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library databases were searched from inception to September 2023. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs), non-RCTs and single-arm trial studies relat...

Redefining the standard of care for low-grade serous ovarian cancer
Clin Adv Hematol Oncol. 2024 Jun;22(5):205-226.ABSTRACTLow-grade serous carcinoma is a rare epithelial ovarian cancer subtype with distinct clinical, histologic, and molecular features. Improved understanding of this disease subtype has prompted recent advances in treatment options. Although low-grade serous carcinoma historically has been treated following a high-grade serous carcinoma paradigm, new data have called into question the utility of platinum retreatment, addressed the possibility of first-line hormonal treatment, and brought forth therapeutic options targeting the MAPK pathway and cyclin D kinase in low-grade ...

Risk versus Benefit of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A  Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Clin Pharmacol Ther. 2024 May 27. doi: 10.1002/cpt.3312. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlthough the treatment landscape has rapidly evolved over the last years, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most lethal cancers. With recent advances, both immunotherapy and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs)-based chemotherapy constitute the standard treatment for advanced HCC. A systematic search of randomized clinical trials employing TKIs was performed in 17 databases, obtaining 25 studies evaluating the prognosis, tumor response, and presence of adverse events (AEs) related to TKIs in HCC. Overall effect sizes were estimat...

Efficacy of Lenvatinib in Combination With PD-1 Monoclonal Antibody and Interventional Treatment for Intermediate-Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Impact on Serum Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Levels: A Retrospective Study
Conclusion: The combined use of lenvatinib, PD-1 monoclonal antibody, and interventional treatment for intermediate to advanced hepatocellular carcinoma may have a definitive therapeutic efficacy. This regimen is effective in reducing tumor marker levels, enhancing immune function, modulating VEGF, MMP-9, and other related cytokine levels, and improving patients' quality of life without significantly augmenting adverse effects. This treatment paradigm also contributes to increased survival rates and promises favorable prognosis.PMID:38802996 | DOI:10.1177/15330338241256812 (Source: Technology in Cancer Research and Treatment)
