Aflatoxin B < sub > 1 < /sub > -exposed hepatocyte-derived extracellular vesicles: Initiating hepatic stellate cell-mediated liver fibrosis through a p53-Parkin-dependent mitophagy pathway
This study further revealed that the hepatic fibrogenesis of AFB1 exposure was rescued by genetic intervention with siPARK2 or p53's Pifithrin-α (PFTα) inhibitors. Furthermore, AFB1-EVs-induced HSCs activation was relieved by GW4869 pharmaceutic inhibition of EVs secretion. These results revealed a novel mechanism that AFB1 exposure-induced p53-Parkin signal axis regulated mitophagy-dependent hepatocyte-derived EVs to mediate the mitochondria-trafficking intercellular communication between hepatocytes and HSCs in the local hepatotoxic microenvironment to promote the activated HSCs-associated liver fibrogenesis. Our study...

BAG3 regulates cilia homeostasis of glioblastoma via its WW domain
Building on our previously identified and novel deciliating function of BAG3, we further decipher the molecular mechanisms of BAG3-regulated cilia homeostasis in glioblastoma (GBM). Based on identification of BAG3 interactomes and the contribution of different functional domains we now demonstrate that BAG3 regulates cilia homeostasis via its WW domain and modulation of YAP1 activity/downstream YAP1-dependent signaling. We also provide evidence for a complex interaction network of BAG3 with several pathways regulating cilia homeostasis at the level of ciliogenesis and cilium degradation. AbstractThe multidomain protein BAG...

Protective Effect of Egg Yolk Lipids against Dextran Sulfate Sodium ‐Induced Colitis: The Key Role of Gut Microbiota and Short‐Chain Fatty Acids
Egg yolk lipids alleviate DSS-induced colitis by regulating gut microbiota and increasing SCFAs production. NLRP3(NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3). AbstractEgg yolk lipids significantly alleviate dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome, reversing gut microbiota dysbiosis, and increasing short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) concentrations. However, the role of gut microbiota and the relationship between SCFAs and NLRP3 inflammasome are still unknown. Here, this study confirms that antibiotic treatment abolishes the protective effect of egg yolk lipids on DSS-induced coloni...

In vitro study on the competitive reactions between arsenite and selenite with glutathione
In this study, we aimed to investigate the antagonistic or synergistic effects of As and Se on the binding mechanism of Se and As with GSH at pH  3.0, 5.0, or 6.5. The interaction of As and Se in Se(SG)2 + As(III) or As(SG)3 + Se(IV) binary systems and As(III) + Se(IV) + GSH ternary system were examined depending on their ratios via liquid chromatography diode array detector/electrospray mass spectrometry (LC-DAD/MS) and liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS ). The results showed that the formation of As(GS)3 was not detected in the As(III)  + Se(SG)2 bi...

Case report: Mutation evolution in a patient with TdT positive high grade B cell lymphoma with MYC and BCL2 rearrangements following the treatment of concurrent follicular lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
ConclusionThis study reports a rare case of TdT positive “double hit” HGBL following the treatment of concurrent FL/DLBCL and highlights the mutation characteristics. Collectively, this study will help enrich the knowledge of TdT positive “double hit” HGBL transformed from FL/DLBCL. (Source: Hormones and Cancer)

Pre-breeding of spontaneous Robertsonian translocations for density planting architecture by transferring Agropyron cristatum chromosome 1P into wheat
Theor Appl Genet. 2024 Apr 24;137(5):110. doi: 10.1007/s00122-024-04614-z.ABSTRACTWe developed T1AL·1PS and T1AS·1PL Robertsonian translocations by breakage-fusion mechanism based on wheat-A. cristatum 1P(1A) substitution line with smaller leaf area, shorter plant height, and other excellent agronomic traits Agropyron cristatum, a wild relative of wheat, is a valuable germplasm resource for improving wheat genetic diversity and yield. Our previous study confirmed that the A. cristatum chromosome 1P carries alien genes that reduce plant height and leaf size in wheat. Here, we developed T1AL·1PS and T1AS·1PL Robertsonian...

Discovery of novel ocotillol derivatives modulating glucocorticoid receptor/NF- κB signaling for the treatment of sepsis
Eur J Med Chem. 2024 Apr 23;271:116427. doi: 10.1016/j.ejmech.2024.116427. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGlucocorticoids (GCs) have been used in the treatment of sepsis because of their potent anti-inflammatory effects. However, their clinical efficacy against sepsis remains controversial because of glucocorticoid receptor (GR) downregulation and side effects. Herein, we designed and synthesized 30 ocotillol derivatives and evaluated their anti-inflammatory activities. Ocotillol 24(R/S) differential isomers were stereoselective in their pharmacological action. Specifically, 24(S) derivatives had better anti-inflammatory ac...

ALK -Positive Histiocytosis —A Distinct Histiocytic Entity Deserving Recognition—Reply
In Reply We read the Letter to the Editor by Kemps et al with interest. We believe that these cases belong to the spectrum of juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG). Conventionally, JXG is divided into 3 clinical stages during the disease process (the early developed, xanthomatous, and regression stages) and 3 histopathological changes are observed accordingly (the early, classic, and transitional stages). In our previous study, approximately 34.8% of systemic JXG exhibited ALK-positive immunostaining and ALK translocation verified via ALK fluorescence in situ hybridization assays. Furthermore, 17.4% were BRAFV600E- variants. This...
