Extraction spectrophotometry using a lithium-ion selective metallacrown: temperature effect on extraction reaction and application to determination of lithium in serum and seawater
Anal Sci. 2024 Apr 23. doi: 10.1007/s44211-024-00569-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA metallacrown-type ionophore, 2,3-pyridinediolate-bridged (3,5-dimethylanisole)ruthenium trinuclear complex, has a high extraction selectivity for Li+, but the extraction reaction is very slow. To solve this problem, the effect of temperature on the rapidity and equilibrium of the extraction of Li+ and Na+ as picrates from water to toluene with the metallacrown was investigated in this study. While the extraction of Li+ requires 6 h of shaking for equilibration at 25 °C, the distribution ratio becomes nearly constant after 4 h and 2 h o...

Evolution of myoglobin diffusion mechanisms: exploring pore and surface diffusion in a single silica particle
This study elucidates the mass transfer mechanism of myoglobin (Mb) within a single silica particle with a 50 nm pore size at various pH levels (6.0, 6.5, 6.8, and 7.0). Investigation of Mb distribution ratio (R) and distribution kinetics was conducted using absorption microspectroscopy. The highest R was observed at pH 6.8, near the isoelectric point of Mb, as the electrostatic repulsion between Mb molecules on the silica surface decreased. The time-course absorbance of Mb in the silica particle was rigorously analyzed based on a first-order reaction, yielding the intraparticle diffusion coefficient of Mb (Dp). Dp-(1 + R)...

PRESERFLO MicroShunt in Severe Myopia: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
We describe here the case study of a 58-year-old woman who presented with bilateral severe myopia with bilateral advanced POAG and unreached target pressure under quadritherapy, who was successfully managed by PM surgery. A review of the literature completes our observation. At presentation, the patient had a spherical equivalent of - 7.50 RE and - 7.75 LE with an IOP of 22 mmHg right and left eye (RLE) under quadritherapy, and with severe bilateral visual field loss, including scotomas within the central 5°. The patient presented with systemic hypertension treated with an antihypertensive drug. Two selective laser trabec...

Optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy for stent-assisted coiling or flow diverter placement
Conclusions Thromboembolic events rarely occurred beyond 30 days after SAC/FD. The duration of DAPT may be shortened if patients have a periprocedural period without events. Further prospective studies are warranted to determine the optimal duration of antiplatelet therapy. Identifying atopic dermatitis risk loci in 1,094,060 individuals with sub analysis of disease severity and onset
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory skin disease highly attributable to genetic factors. Here, we report results from a genome-wide meta-analysis of AD in 37,541 cases and 1,056,519 controls with data from the FinnGen project, the Estonian Biobank, the UK Biobank, the EAGLE Consortium, and the BioBank Japan. We detected 77 independent AD-associated loci of which 10 were to our knowledge previously unreported. The associated loci showed enrichment in various immune regulatory processes.
