Pancreatic Cancer and its Attributable Risk Factors in East Asia, Now and Future
CONCLUSION: Economically developed countries are beginning to show a decreasing trend in the burden of pancreatic cancer disease, and developing countries are experiencing a rapid increase in the age-standardized death rate (ASDR) of pancreatic cancer.PMID:37265056 | DOI:10.1093/oncolo/oyad147 (Source: The Oncologist)

Real-world treatment patterns of subsequent therapy after palbociclib in patients with advanced breast cancer in Japan
CONCLUSION: This real-world study revealed that one-third of the patients received sequential CDK4/6i after ET + palbociclib, and treatment duration of ET + CDK4/6i following ET + palbociclib was the longest among the treatment options. Further data are awaited to determine whether ET + targeted therapy with CDK4/6i and mTORi provides acceptable treatment options following ET + palbociclib.PMID:37267715 | DOI:10.1016/j.breast.2023.05.006 (Source: Breast)

Opioid prescriptions at the point of surgery, bone metastasis, or death among patients with breast cancer in Japanese acute care hospitals: a claims-based, retrospective, longitudinal study
CONCLUSION: We investigated opioid prescription trends around clinical events in breast cancer patients on a large scale in Japan. These results may be useful to control cancer pain among breast cancer patients.PMID:37266722 | DOI:10.1007/s00520-023-07805-4 (Source: Cancer Control)

Assessment of contamination of marine sediments and their potential toxicity in the Uglovoy Bay, Peter the Great Gulf, Sea of Japan/East Sea
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Jun 2. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-28021-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe content of harmful heavy metals in the bottom sediments of the Uglovoy Bay (Peter the Great Gulf, Sea of Japan/East Sea) was studied based on the surveys carried out in 2016-2021. The contamination of the sediments in the bay was compared to the background concentrations of elements and to common contamination indices. The degree of contamination was calculated using the contamination factor (Cf), modified overall degree of contamination (mCd), and index of geoaccumulation (Igeo). The toxicity of marine sediment sampl...

Association between clinical symptoms and lateral thrust 12 months after high tibial osteotomy
Conclusion] Good clinical outcomes after high tibial osteotomy can be expected with a lateral thrust of ≤3.0°, indicating that the target hip-knee-ankle angle should be 2.0° valgus. In cases where valgus alignment is insufficient, lateral thrust may develop, which should be assessed using gait analysis.PMID:37266363 | PMC:PMC10231975 | DOI:10.1589/jpts.35.465 (Source: Health Physics)

Relationships between physical, cognitive, and social frailty and locomotive and non-locomotive physical activity of moderate to vigorous intensity
Conclusion] Future interventions to increase step counts and locomotive physical activity of moderate to vigorous intensity may be effective for preventing physical frailty; however, interventions other than simple physical activity need to be considered for the prevention of cognitive and social frailty.PMID:37266358 | PMC:PMC10231973 | DOI:10.1589/jpts.35.426 (Source: Health Physics)

Analysis of Clinical Outcomes After Robotic Hepatectomy Applying the Western-Model Southampton Laparoscopic Difficulty Scoring System. An Experience From a Tertiary US Hepatobiliary Center
CONCLUSION: The Southampton difficulty scoring system is a valid system for classifying robotic liver resections and is a strong predictor of intraoperative outcomes. However, the system was found to be a weaker predictor of postoperative outcomes. This finding may suggest the need for proposal of a new difficulty scoring system for robotic hepatectomies.PMID:37265440 | DOI:10.1177/00031348231173948 (Source: The American Surgeon)

Current Therapeutic Trends for Tinnitus Cure and Control: A Scoping Review
AbstractThe present scoping review assessed knowledge updates in tinnitus management. We included randomized trials, non-randomized studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and observational studies in last 5 years on patients with tinnitus usingPopulation, Concept, and Context mnemonic. We excluded studies on tinnitus epidemiology, technique-specific comparative studies for tinnitus assessment, review articles, or case reports. We used an artificial intelligence-powered tool MaiA for overall workflow management. Data charting elements included study identifiers, study design, population, interventions used, their outco...
