GI fellowship elective/away rotation in Japan?
I'm a current GI fellow and want to spend some time in Japan. I think that it'd be very interesting to see how medicine is practiced there and see how they do things differently in terms of management. Already, I can tell that people who train in Asia are much more talented at unsedated colonoscopies than in the US where we can rely on anesthesia. I have elective time, and I'm sure that I can convince my program to allow me to do an international elective in Japan if such a thing exists. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Free most useful question banks for med school
Hello. I am Moe,a 5th year medical student in Japan. I would like to study medicine in English, since my dream is to work as a doctor overseas. I’m particularly interested in medicine in developing countries,so I am not sure if I need USMLE for my career at the moment. I was wondering if there were any helpful free resources to use, as I would like to keep the budget low. I am currently using passmed, but it is really hard to make a plan without particular exams as a goal. It would really... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Transfer LMFT/LPCC license b/w CA and WA
Hello, I plan to apply for an LMFT program in CA this fall, but I have questions about license portability. My plan is to obtain a license and practice in CA first, and then move to Seattle or somewhere in Washington state in a few years, as I've always wanted to live there. In CA, there is a significant Japanese community, and being a Japanese therapist, I wish to maintain my practice there while also practicing in WA. I'm unsure whether I should start my studies in CA and then transfer to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Army specialists going OCONUS
Hello! What are the chances of an army specialist getting an OCONUS assignment? I have heard peds and endo are pretty good odds of getting an OCONUS duty station, but what about a specialty like perio? I’m considering applying for perio, but I also have interest in getting to serve OCONUS (ideally Korea or Japan) at some point if possible. Any insight is appreciated, thanks in advance!! Japan Former PM Shinzo Abe Resuscitation Discussion
For those not paying attention, he was the former Prime Minister of Japan who was shot and killed. What caught my attention was reporting that at least 20 doctors were working to resuscitate him. I don’t know if the injuries were survivable; probably not. But this may also be another example that if you are in a trauma scenario you are better off being the homeless guy than the VVIP. Physician willing to write a letter of recommendation for 2022-2023 application cycle?
I know this seems unorthadoxed, but I have really been struggling to find a physician to write me a letter of recommendaton. I am currently living in Japan and the idea of shadowing does not really exist here. I have some experience shadowing in the US but it was years ago and not enough to ask for a letter of recommendation. I would love to be able to do some interviews beforehand in order for the writer to learn about me and for me to learn more about their specialty and journey to... Hi! To start out, I'm half African American and Japanese in a small American school in Japan. I'm in the process of looking for BS/DDS programs but I was wondering if I even have a chance to get into one of these programs. Since I would be considered an international student, I understand my chances are even lower but here are my credentials until now.
