How much importance does the average gen surg residency place on research and ECs?
I'm a 3rd-year DO student and I have been enjoying my gen surg rotations a lot more than I had expected to. I'm considering making a pivot from my orig goals (FM/IM) and looking more into surgery, but I'm not sure if my lack of ECs/research are going to hinder me a lot. Locums?
So, why are locum radiology rates so bad compared to just straight up private practice employment. 2400 a day is the higher end of the number that I've seen researching locum stuff. In other specialties, working locums say in ER or even neurology etc. is much more lucrative... Or are there hidden payment structures employed that they don't tell you when looking at job boards etc. I would imagine 4-6k a day to be more reasonable for a locum rate... Where can I find IM RVUs?
Wanted to do some calculations on locums rates... I have some examples from radiology, but wanted some respective numbers from IM Let's say you are going to get $2500 for the "day". You need to do enough work to justify that. Currently, Medicare pays about $36 for each professional RVU. This covers the labor cost. $2500/$36 = 69 RVU 69 RVU is a doable day of work. What does this translate to? -CXRs are worth 0.22 RVU for the professional component. So this is about 313 CXRs. If you are... Where can I find IM RVUs? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC for my school list? Georgia resident
I’m in the process of completing and submitting secondary applications, but I’m worried that my application might suffer because of my amount clinical hours (40). I spent the first two years of undergrad at a Big Ten university where I played collegiate baseball. I guess I'll first give a little background info while trying to maintain some anonymity. I'm an M1 at a pretty well-regarded school (let's say T5/T10, shouldn't matter that much). Dentistry can be a grind. The whole work life balance thing is overrated
There are many other professions that pay similarly or more that don’t have the headaches dentistry has. I remember most of my classmates saying they chose dentistry due to the hours and workload MDs have to deal with. But looking at dentistry not sure it is much better. Hi all, I'm a resident in a large academic program. Many aspects of our outpatient clinics are frustrating to the residents, but one of the most immediate issues is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of thought put into how many new patients we should see vs. the amount of time we need for our return visits.
