Choosing Medical Assistant Position Field
Reapplicant here but posting in the premed forum for more views. Would a medical assistant position in optho mess up my narrative as I've been doing basic science research in another specialty for a few years? Also if I start in early April, will I have enough hours to send in my primary in June? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Billing tips for newly minted Rheumatology Attending
Im a very short time fellowship will be over and we will be set free to join the workforce as independent providers. Like in most residences and fellowships, billing is not exactly a topic that gets covered a lot. My fellowship is largely academic so attendings often don't think or worry about RVUs. Currently, I bill mostly 99204/99214, occasionally 99205/99215, G2211, and procedure codes for aspiration/injection. Once I get MSK US certified, I plan on incorporating that into my practice... PNWU DO vs. Drexel MS-MD
I'm making this thread because I'm wondering if an interview at the Drexel DPMS program is worth it. My interests are currently in internal medicine (IM) and general surgery (GS) (influenced by my IM and GS mentors) - but I want to do shadowing during medical school to definitively decide. I'm not too concerned about the prestige of DO vs. MD - but I am more concerned about the realities of residency matching. PNWU 4-year DO Pros: • Established school • True P/F, non-mandatory classes... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is this clinical or non-clinical?
Sorry for clogging the forum with one of these questions. Just trying to make sure I'm getting the right experiences. Would food delivery to hospice patients be considered clinical or non-clinical? If non-clinical, is this the type of non-clinical volunteering that is acceptable by adcoms? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

super low GPA/high MCAT applicant. Soo lost and Unsure what to do?
Hi guyss. Any feedback you could provide would be super helpful. So basically I have a 2.9 cGPA/2.5 sGPA (183 units). Yea not good ik but I was going through a lot mental health wise and did have an upward trend my last two years until my last quarter where i got straight c's :/. Anyways I took the MCAT recently and to my surprise I got a 520. So here I am unsure what to do. Should I apply broadly to DO's and pray I get in? My concerns are quality/access to rotations, and possibly hindering... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

BWH abdo fellowship
Hey! I am a Canadian radiology resident interested in applying to this program next year. Wondering what the reputation is like or if anyone has heard positive/negative things. I think it seems great though my only concern is that some of the procedures highlighted on their web page are quite advanced (RFA, cryo), which are skills I would never use in my future general practice. Step 2 247. Time to drop ophtho?
Really disappointed in my step 2 of 247. Was routinely hitting 250s prior to my exam and 80% correct on the Free 120s which some of my friends also got and received 255-265s. Class quartile is 3rd with honors in about half my core rotations. Research is 1 poster in ARVO and a submitted paper to a lower impact journal. I have several research papers in non-ophtho related journals as well as about 5 regional conference posters. I'm currently applying to away rotations but is it even worth... Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine Pros and Cons
Hey all, I previously posted on this thread regarding the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine. What are the pros and cons of applying/getting admitted into/going to medical school at USUHS? What are the things I need to know about USUHS before I dip my feet in? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Do I Have to Practice in the State That I Take the NPTE in?
This may be a silly question, but I have heard conflicting information. Basically, I'm just wondering if I go to school and take/ pass the NPTE in, for example Oregon, would that mean that I have to practice in that specific state forever? Would I be unable to practice in another state? And, if so, is it more challenging to get a job in a different state than you studied in? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Just received my Step 2 score (247) and very disappointed. Should I still apply ophtho?
Ive been interested in ophtho since entering med school. I just received a 247 on Step 2 which was below what I was averaging prior to my test with my last practice test being 255. I also honored 3 rotations and near honors the rest but this still landed me in the 3rd quartile of my class (right at the cusp of 2nd quartile). Research wise I have one poster in ARVO and one 1st author paper pending (lower impact journal) as well as a couple smaller regional conference posters. I also have 3... Being 2nd Quartile (Bottom Half)
I think Im smack down in the middle, maybe a little bit to the lower half. I know preclinical grades don’t matter, but assuming I end up in the second quartile (bottom half), is there any specialty that would view this as a negative? I’m a DO, and I’m interested in academic IM, neuro, anesthesia, and maybe gen surg. Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Questions About NCC
I have been learning more about what fellowship paths there are post neuro residency, and I came across NCC. Just an M1, but I had a few questions about it. Is NCC a competitive fellowship, similar to cards/GI/PCCM/heme onc? i.e. will I need to be coming from an academic program? Or is this something I’ll be able to match given I’m a decent resident who works hard? How is the job market for NCC? Is this a niche field with only a few amount of jobs available, or is it a growing field? From... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Withdraw pre-decision?
Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a confusing situation that I would love some insight on. I am currently waitlisted at two schools and waiting to hear from two others - no acceptances yet. Later in the cycle, when I still had no interview invites, I decided to apply to a brand new medical school, and ended up getting an interview there (this is one of the schools I am waiting to hear from). However, after learning more about the school in the interview (mostly about aspects of it being a new... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
