GS-11 v. Postdoc
I am counting my chickens before they hatch here but I have a question about taking a GS-11/graduate psychologist position at the VA. My number one priority for life after internship is to stay in the desirable metro I'm from and am currently completing an internship in. My second priority is to stay with the VA at least through my early career. To that end I have applied to every postdoc at the local VAs and received a variety of interviews. I am well-liked as an intern and I have good... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Google Voice
Some one else, who is far smarter than me, said to get a Google Voice number. Can't remember if this was a colleague from residency days, or if it were here on SDN. But get yourself a google voice number. And use that to give to locums or recruiters. This way your real phone number doesn't keep ringing through out the day, and if you ever get established with a job or your own private practice you can let the Google voice number go... and poof no more will your cell phone get spammed... Applying derm with psychiatry as a backup?
Hi everyone, I will be applying for residency soon and am considering my options. I have always loved derm and have been working since before medical school to build my resume towards dermatology. I'm not going to go into a ton of info on stats but lets say I am an average or maybe a touch below average derm candidate. I do have some strong connections at a few programs so I'm hoping for those to give me a bit of an edge. I am very afraid of not matching. I love derm with a passion but I'd... Understanding insurance
Hey all, so, I'm only a M1 but mad people in my life come up to me with questions about insurance, different plans, HMOs, etc, etc. acting like I should know all of this (and honestly I probably should though), I've been on Medicaid most of my adult life so my knowledge doesn't extend much beyond what I've personally dealt with. What is a decent, succinct, resource I could go through to have the knowledgebase to answer the ins and outs of insurance-based questions? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How likely do you think Step 1 will be P/F by Summer 2020?
The latest update on the Announcements tab from the USMLE website from Nov 2020 says "the transition to Step 1 P/F is on track to be implemented in Jan 2022". I called them to ask for clarification and they couldn't give me any. Wondering if any of you all have any more information or even just a feeling about when you think this will take place? Hello! MS1 here really interested in QI research. Nurses Anti-Vax/Antivax
I’m starting to notice that more and more nurses are anti-vax. Recently, I took my foster children to a new doctor and discussed vaccines. As with any medical care aside from ER services, I have to get approval from their medical social worker through the agency. As I stepped out of the doctor’s office to make the call, a nurse who worked in the doctor’s office overheard me discussing the vaccines and said that it’s great to see another parent question if vaccines are even necessary and... Long Story about me -- if you want to skip, my question is bolded at the bottom... Hello, I recently saw a 70y/o lady with a left breast pT2N0 grade 2 metaplastic carcinoma with a tiny invasive lobular component. How to actually close programs or reduce spots at bad programs
The single best, and likely only real way, to effectively close or reduce the number of rad onc slots at bad programs is through the ACGME survey.
