Moving with kids for vet school
Hello everyone!
I have been a lurker on this forum for a long time. I am an older applicant and I have 3 children between the ages 12-15. I have been planning to go to vet school for years but put it off when the kids were younger so I could work. I got my first interview invite and it has become more real to me that I will be uprooting my entire family for school. I only have one school near me (Tufts) and I doubt I will get in to that one, so a move is likely.
Are there any other...

HPSP MEPS question
Hello.
My recruiter told me that my MEPS is scheduled from 10/4 to 10/5.
Since I'm a HPSP applicant, I was wondering if I have to swear in by the end of MEPS. Also, is there anything that I have to be careful about when signing the forms and contracts?
Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Onboarding Curriculum For APCs
Hi all,
I’m currently in my third year of practice in an Interventional pain group. We are looking to hire more APCs to our group. I was wondering if anyone out there has any recommendations of resources that we could use that would be a standardized way of teaching/training APCs new to interventional pain. Their responsibility will be entirely clinic (Assessing pts for injections, fuv, and med mgmt). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Will me choosing to go to med school help the physician shortage?
I've been considering a (admittedly, somewhat crazy) career change from law to medicine (I'm 28 yo, no debt, did all pre-med coursework in college). I only realized now that my personality fits better with medicine. On top of that, I've been hearing and reading about the looming physician shortage in the US and that makes me want to the "heed the call" and go for it. But if the number of med school graduates outnumbers the number of residency spots, will I really be making much of a...

Do non-academic attending jobs care about research done in residency?
See title. Don't see a reason why they would but just curious. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Letter of Interest - Rutgers
I applied in mid-July to late-July to a lot of schools and have interviews at a couple. However, I live in New Jersey and Rutgers IS is way cheaper for me in comparison to any school I can get into. Can I send a letter of interest to Rutger right now or should I wait? Can you leverage acceptances from other schools to get an interview at your in-state? I am currently working at Columbia and finished my undergraduate degree in 2020 and my master's in 2021. I'm not sure if this negatively...

PI reaching out on your behalf?
So, my PI at my full time job was kind enough to offer that he reach out to the program director of my top choice medical school and put in a good word for me after my interview.
He used to be on the admissions committee at a T5 med school and is very big in the research world. He has done this in the past for others and those students were accepted after. Would this benefit my application at all or even potentially hurt me? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DLOSCE Preparation
Hi friends!
If anyone has experience, information, or tips regarding the DLOSCE as a pathway to licensure, if you could please share that would be very much appreciated Given its a newer exam, not as much info is out there! In particular:
What materials did you find helpful in preparing you for this exam? (Outside of practice q's they provide)
Any tips for approaching the multiple choice questions (the ones with 9+ answer choices)?
How did this compare to the INDBE or boards?
If you...

Clinical Psychology vs. MD/PhD Psychiatry
As I'm drafting my SOPs and getting my application affairs in order it has hit me that I really need to keep ruling other pathways out. One pathway that's stuck with me is the idea of doing an MD/PhD and having the PhD be a soft science such as Social Psychology (a decent amount of programs do allow this/fund this). For reference my research interest I plan on continuing in grad school is how culture influences psychopathology presentation and cultural adaptation to assessment and treatment...

Extending eligibility
I might not be able to take my exam as scheduled, and I want to reschedule it to the next period of time that I'm free in. This is past the eligibility window. Ada allows me to pay $130 to extend the window by a few months which is enough for me. My question is, will I only have to pay $130? Or will there be another charge after that for when I cancel the exam? If so, when is the latest date I can cancel the exam and would it have an affect on the price? Thank you in advance.

Took my 1st attempt today and I failed. I’m so utterly upset with myself. I used bootcamp and my total averages for the 3 practice tests I took were 16-17 AA. Don’t know why I didn’t reschedule. Anyway, enough feeling bad for myself.

DAT Studying While Taking Classes
Hello,
I am currently taking ochem 2, microbiology, and 2 online electives. With more time on my hands, I have decided to start studying for the DAT in hopes of taking it in January 2024. The problem I am facing is that I do not know what kind of schedule to follow and whether I should invest in DAT Bootcamp this early. Should I just take this time to watch free videos or do free practice questions on QR, RC, PAT, and genchem to keep that content fresh on my mind? Then during winter break...

OMFS start up
hi everyone,
I see a bunch of private practice income threads, but rarely see anything about starting a practice, growth, etc. Does someone have information about how long it takes a practice to build up, cost of start up,average collections/production, hours worked, scope of the practice, insurance, etc.?
