What are the disadvantages to applying to both MD and MD/PhD?
I'm currently unsure if I want to do solely medicine via MD or both research and medicine via MD/PhD. I was planning to prepare myself as best as I can for the MD/PhD path (mainly by doing a lot of research, trying to publish papers, etc.) so that at least when the time for applications comes around, I will be able to apply to both MD and MD/Phd. I'm thinking that by preparing myself for MD/Phd, I will also be preparing a competitive application for MD. However, I don't know if there are any... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does a hospital know if you dual apply in their system?
I'm thinking of dual applying psych and FM, but there's a specific (large) city that I want to stay in. If I apply to both psych and FM at the same teaching hospital will they know that I dual applied to 2 residencies in their system? I would do that for all of the programs in my city if I'm not likely to get caught. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice for pursuing ENT
I already know its an extremely competitive field that is not typically DO friendly but I was still curious if anyone had any words of advice or any connections that could help me proceed into being one of the lucky ones to match. I am currently a OMS-III with a 250 step 1 and a 700 level 1, top percent of the class when it comes to pre-clinical grades, just started clinical rotations so we will see how those go. Lacking in the research realm so weighing the pros and cons of a gap year. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

kinda disappointed with Epic. Any way to address some issues?
I recently switched to a shop that uses a pretty wide open and upgraded version of Epic. I have used Cerner for 7 years prior to that and was excited to try the purported king of EMRs. To be honest, I am disappointed. I've spent 6 months customizing and would consider myself power user level (I didn't take that course though...what a waste of time to learn like 5 tips) and have read through several threads on SDN where i picked up a few tricks (user dictionary, various kb shortcuts)... Number of Consult Months in Fellowship
I've noticed a lot of programs have very differing number of consult blocks during fellowship. Does the more consult months = stronger clinicians/cardiologists? Some programs have no consult months in their last year. How do you go a whole year without that, and still be okay after graduating and starting as an attending? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medical School Interviews
Hello, I was wondering how selecting an interview date worked. Will schools give you a choice at all available slots at that current point in the application cycle or do they give you a specific range of dates you can look at like the entire month of October or only October 1st through the 7th to choose from. Basically, I'm curious if I should just stay home the entire fall because I am scared I won't be able to interview with a school or will I be able to go do what I want until I... Soon I will be a dental student but in the midst of my excitement to step into the amazing world of dentistry, I can't shake the idea that most dentists on this forum are showing disdain about how insurance companies, daggone incompetent middlemen at best, are destroying the profession. Is it bad to be multiple years out of school?
My cycle failed. I plan on reapplying next year, and at that point, I will be 5 years out of undergrad. My GPA in undergrad was fine, and I did fine on the MCAT last summer (MCAT will be 2 years old when I apply). Do schools look negatively on someone who is multiple years out of school?
