Getting Cosmetic Surgery during Residency
The program I am at has about a 2 week break later this year. I am considering getting a rhinoplasty during this time. I believe there is still somewhat of a stigma for getting this procedure as a guy. How big of a no-no is this (assuming that I recover fine and don't let it affect my day-to-day responsibilities)? For what it's worth, it would be fairly noticeable since I do have a deviated nasal axis. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Having trouble supporting partner and potential LDR
I'm a PhD student and met my partner in his first year of residency. Three years later, we live together and he's looking for clinical jobs while I finish my degree. We are in our late 20s, very happy together, and serious about the future. My partner has struggled to feel at home in medicine -- miserable throughout med school, switched out of his specialty because he hated it -- but has finally found a path he enjoys. His mentors have encouraged him to apply to an amazing, competitive... Having trouble supporting partner and potential LDR (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Earning potential in PP vs Academia
Hi guys, I'm currently a resident at a metropolitan area. I'm midway through training and had some questions, as I am looking in to different career options. Though I know there are big differences between PP and academia, this thread primarily focuses on the pay. I always heard and thought that PP makes more than academia overall (works more but makes more), but is that really the case? For example, say a PP gig makes $450-500k/year working 50hrs/week vs academia makes $300-350 working... Earning potential in PP vs Academia (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Wearing body Armour for personal safety?
Hello, My friend in a not so jolly part of Flint, MI is a pharmacist and his DM refuses to agree to his requests to put up safety bullet proof glass in the pharmacy. He has been robbed twice in the last year in the store. He wants to start wearing Kevlar chest body armor under his employee uniform. Is this allowed? Any tips for staying safe in warzone-like areas? M4 Switching to PM & R After Unrelated Research Year
So this is a strange situation I’ve found myself in...I’m a rising M4 currently wrapping up my research year in ortho. I was pretty set on ortho hence the research year.
