Taking precalc after multivar?
I took multivar calc freshman year and got a B.

Adjusting to higher acuity?
Was talking with an old resident colleague. She has mostly been dealing with ASA2 and 3s. Now she is worried to take a job that is mostly ASA3 sometimes more with surgeons who want to start doing more complex stuff.
Who out there has dealt with the transfer and adapted? Who felt that the switch was too much and then left in a short time? How much of this comes down to the new coworkers assisting you a lot? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Nitro/verapamil for radial a-lines
I believe @pgg and @PpfSuxTube mentioned this in another thread and I wanted to have one to discuss this topic. How many people do this? What doses do you use? I know our vascular people do 200mcg of nitro and 1mg of verapamil into their sheaths to dilate. For people who inject nitro peri-arterial with the local do you get any hypotension? Not sure how much or if any would be absorbed or go systemically. I'm thinking for the sick tiny artery people this may be of some benefit...

Hopkins vs UVA
To preface: the cost will be roughly the same at both schools
I am interested in (but not committed to) primary care which is the only reason I'm hesitant toward Hopkins
The curriculums are relatively similar: both 18 month P/F pre-clinical, non-mandatory lectures with only a couple hours a day of required in-person learning

Best ways to get referrals from y'all?
I'm a psychiatrist and potentially starting a private practice from 0. Would take major insurances, some Medicaid, no Medicare. Open to seeing pretty much anything other than ASPD/long criminal histories, but would like to keep substance use disorders to a minimum. Attending subspecialty conferences during intern year?
I matched into psychiatry for the incoming 2024 cohort starting in July. I have long wanted to pursue forensic psychiatry even during undergrad, and I can see that while fellowships in general are not competitive, the more "prestigious" programs are getting more selective over time.

Thoughts on levetiracetam (Keppra) dosing for epilepsy?
Hello everyone,
Curious about your thoughts on something for those who have prescribed levetiracetam. Have any of you tried using the “pulse” dosing method (described here), which involves only using the medication at a higher dose immediately following and in the 48 hours after an epileptic seizure, rather than prescribing it to be used daily and continuously over time?

First degree was a 3.2 GPA then I did a ~90 credit post bacc with a 4.0.
Scored a 509 MCAT last cycle bc of a severely stressful time period and test anxiety. Based on practice exams and UW progress I'm looking at a 52X score this cycle.

Previous 5 year career in social services before my post bacc (3/5 years were clinical social services).
