Low CARS
Hi Everyone, I just got my MCAT results back and got a 504 (127/122/127/128). I am very worried that my low CARS score will prevent me from even being accepted by DO schools. I want nothing more than anything to get into medical school! Could someone give me some insight. I even heard schools have cut offs for individual sections. What are they because I’ve read multiple forums and some say below 125 are screened yet others say not. Beyond mcat I hold a gpa of 3.94 and lots of ECs such as... I want to study in the best place in the world
Hi all! I want to do my masters in psychology (in order to become a therapist), and I want this education to be actually meaningful. Now, I know that “best” is pretty relative, so I will state here what matters to me. I have had a disappointing experience during my bachelor studies, where the whole thing felt like a conspiracy between teachers and students to pretend that what we’re doing here makes sense. But then most people just wanted to finish and get their degree, so ignored the... I want to study in the best place in the world (Source: Student Doctor Network)

LOR trouble
My professor who previously agreed to write my letter in no longer reachable (hasn’t responded for almost a month). With apps opening soon, I’m trying to look for an alternative. I was wondering how a co-written letter with my TA (who knew me well) and Professor (who sort of knew me) would look? It was Genetics and I got an A+ in the course. My fear is that my professor doesn’t know me super well. But my TA does, but he’s a graduate student. Thanks for any advice! Sent from my iPhone using... LOR trouble (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Wake vs. VCU
I am currently on the waitlist at Wake Forest, and am trying to decide if I should send a letter of intent to matriculate based on my acceptance to VCU. I feel like both schools were very similar with their: new medical school buildings, patient contact opportunities (standardized patients), systems based curriculum, happiness/niceness of the students, and great patient simulator rooms. They also both have “houses” to divide up the students and create friendly competition, PBL/case centered... Wake vs. VCU (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Didn't match - next cycle psych?
I applied radiology this year, and didn't match, despite going on 10 interviews (which in hindsight, was nowhere near enough). But after the interview/elective/audition rotation process, I think I'm better suited for psych, which was my other top choice during third year. The problem is, I went all-in for radiology and only have my 3rd year psych rotation as experience (which I did well in). Who should write my LOR?
I am having trouble choosing between 2 dentist to write my LOR. I have heard that some schools want to know how many hours you have shadowed the dentist that writes your lor? Dentist A: Has been a LONG time close family friend, and a very well known established dentist that attended the university I want to go to (UMKC) but I only was able to shadow him for 2 hours. Doctoral Student Potentially Transitioning to Medical School
There are similar posts on here so I apologize for redundancy - I am currently nearing the end of my doctoral program (Neuropsychology) and may use it as a stepping stone to medical school. I had an undergraduate minor in Human Biology, so many pre-med courses are done. However, there are others such as Organic Chemistry, Physics, etc. that will need to be taken. Selecting an antidepressant

How do you go about selecting a particular antidepressant for a patient who is presenting with anxiety or depression? Blood on stethoscope
I am rotating through my peds rotation, and truly love it. But one thing worries me. I think I am probably too paranoid. When pediatricians attend newborns in the OR or birthing suit, there is often a lot of blood/body fluid on the baby, which can go everyone despite the best effort to clean the baby thoroughly with towels. And the blood often gets on the stethoscope as well. Were pediatricians ever worried that the blood can touch the earpiece of the stethoscope and get into their ears? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
