Stanford vs Vanderbilt (75% Scholarship)
Stanford (PSTP) Pros Strong fit with scientist/creative academic culture, could probably first author a cool project Prestige in and out of academia (dream school vibes) I thrive in unstructured environments and like the independence of their curriculum World leaders in my research field of interest, interdisciplinary projects encouraged Never lived on the west coast, and very much love nearby outdoors stuff, have friends in SF Slightly older students with... Vanderbilt (75% scholarship) vs Columbia (no $) vs WashU (full tuition scholarship)
Hello! I am having a hard time deciding between these schools and would love some advice. Columbia (no $) Pros: - I have lived in NYC the past few years and enjoy living there/have friends in the area - Columbia seems to have a strong public health emphasis, esp w/ VP&S's close relationship to Mailman - More of a focus on serving underserved communities - I have a background in community organizing and it's easier to imagine staying engaged in local organizing efforts in NYC -... [Interview Prep] Possible Interview Question
I came across this scenario question during a mock interview and was wondering what a good response would be or how to approach this: “Let’s say that you’re assisting your mentor during a cardiac surgery. However your mentor accidentally nicked an artery. He told you to go inform that patient’s family that the surgery will take another 30 min and not to tell them anything about the nicked artery. What would you do/what is your best course of action?” (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Best specialties for people with ASD?
Hi everyone! Currently thinking about specialties as an incoming M1 and I've been trying to look on forums to see which specialties tend to be accommodating for people with ASD. However, most specialties people tend to bring up don't involve patient interaction, like anesthesiology or radiology. I typically enjoy patient interaction and being around people but have poor experience with social cues and settling into a normal conversational tone. Are there any specialties that are suitable for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MSUCOM vs. CCOM
Hello everyone! I am torn on this decision and would very much appreciate any guidance/advice you all can offer. CCOM Pros Close to family (I am an IL resident and will have two siblings within 30 minutes each from campus) Girlfriend (almost fiance) is also 30 minutes away and in her first year of dental school Precision Medicine research (I have multiple research projects as well as a master's degree in this field) Strong religious population/community (Muslim)... Neuropsych Testing
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in NYS as well as a school psychologist with over 10 years of child assessment experience. I was recently contacted by an assessment agency who offered me a fee to conduct a neuropsychological evaluation on a child suspected of a learning disability. Am I not allowed to do this because I am not a board approved neuropsych? Nor am I under the supervision of one. I don’t have additional post-doc specializations but have administered many tests typically... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Board Vitals for Core
Hi All Currently prepping for Core about 6 weeks to go On Board Vitals, am averaging low 70s. I would think this would be decent to pass but it's saying it is low percentile (like 12th?) The software otherwise says this is "on track". My lowest scores are in physics and radiation safety, which I hope will be easier to improve.... Reading online/on rad discord, people are saying these may be inaccurate. A few years old data suggested 74% is the average BV score for someone who passed core... Brown vs. Uconn BS/MD vs. pitt vs. BU vs. Top Liberal Arts Schools
Fortunately got admission to most schools applied. Difficult to choose among these top options: 1. Uconn BS/MD: pro: 8 years to MD directly although GPA and MCAT requirements In State low costs ~20k per year Close to home Could have research opportunities. cons: Lower rank than other choices Large class size, in class requirement rural campus, may stick to the local area for 8 years May lose the chance to top medical schools. 2 Brown pro: Ivy title visited school, like... Ethnic named practice?
I'm considering starting a direct primary care practice and was going to go with "Mylastname Direct Primary Care", but my last name is very ethnic and not easy to pronounce. In my professional career I have always gone by Dr. X and worry that doing my last name will be a mistake. The marketing specialists I have discussed the topic with have said there are positives and negatives to both, but I am unsure what route to take. Any recommendations?
