Multi-visceral transplant surgeons: interested in becoming one, tell me what I need to know
I have been interested in transplant surgery for a long time. I've done some clinical research in the field, rotated through transplant as a 3rd year elective rotation, and have a personal desire to become a transplant surgeon. Lately, I've been considering the possibility of trying to specialize in multi-visceral transplant patients. What are the things I need to know about caring for multi-visceral transplant patients and performing multi-vis operations? What are the job prospects for... Urine drug test at U-Michigan
Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knew if UMich tested for nicotine in their pre-employment urine drug test. My friends kept saying that they most likely do but I think they are just saying that because their program (Beaumont) does do that - and it states that very clearly. I can't find any information in the residency contract, drug screen consent form or anything else that it says this. My logical sense tells me that if something like tobacco or nicotine is going to be... Urine drug test at U-Michigan (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When to take oral boards?
Today, I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I found out that I passed the WQE. Now I wonder, when should I take the oral boards? Next dates are Sept 2019 and March 2020. The September date would mean I'd have to forgo my long-awaited travel plans between fellowship and The Real World. Would the March exam date be too late, though? USC-Keck (full-tuition) vs. UCSD
UC San Diego Pros Med school is in a beautiful area Great opportunities for clinical exposure and independent study under faculty advisor May be considered more prestigious, and I am considering a competitive specialty Great match list Great electives from Yr.1, while Keck is from Yr. 2 Cons Did not give me money (but I can hope lol) Students did not seem very social or lively, and I don't want a boring social life Did not seem as focused on... Explaining lower MCAT score with eating disorder?
I took the MCAT twice and got a 509 on the first, 510 on the second. Both summers I was struggling with binge eating disorder, which if you are not familiar with it, can be very consuming and wrecking, to say the least. The first time I took it, I definitely just did not study enough, especially with dealing with my disorder almost every day of the summer and wasting many days because I was too distracted by food or something along those lines. What kind of jobs can you get with a DDS/DMD outside of practicing dentistry?
For example, can you work in a corporation (Straumann, P&G, etc.), while still using some of your knowledge and experience in dentistry/medicine? I was just wanting to know some of the other possible options with a DDS/DMD outside of practicing dentistry and its specialties. The only equivalent to this I've heard of is from when I was shadowing a former Air Force dentist, he said you could transition into health administration in the Air Force if you didn't care to do dentistry for them anymore.
