Optometrist Salary
I am applying to optometry schools and am merely curious to know more about the salary, as this is something I have never really looked into before. How much do recent grads get paid? Vs. Someone who has been established in the field for 5+ years. I have shadowed a few doctors and there have been times when there are 30min+ slots where no appointments are booked. Do optometrists who don't own a practice get paid by the hour or by how many patients are booked that day? I'd greatly... Optometrist Salary (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What else can I be doing?
I am applying to dental school in June, so these next 6 months are very important. I have a 3.8/3.9 gpa, I've been shadowing a dentist and plan to shadow others. I worked as a developmental therapist for over a year, I have 150+ volunteer hours with refugees, I work as a biology lab materials assistant, I tutor for statistics and worked as a peer-mentor for general chemistry last semester. I will be a B2 for organic chemistry this semester and start studying for the DAT. What more should I... What else can I be doing? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Current students, some $ questions for you
I've been looking at the cost of attendance for a few DO programs, and I'm trying to figure out if ~$15000/yr savings (based on info from school websites) is significant enough to sway my decision of where to attend, or if those amounts are even accurate. So, I was hoping some currently enrolled students would be able to enlighten me on two topics... Exactly HOW important is continued education after a bachelors?
I haven't taken classes in two years, took one last semester, and am not taking anything this semester because I want to study for the DAT instead. Is this a bad idea?! I took the DAT in 2015 and got an 18... I definitely need to improve. I've forgotten a lot of material so I will be relearning a lot to master the material to do well. I will also be working full time and helping out at a local dental assisting school on Saturdays. I wont "just" be studying, but I won't be in school. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When mental illness gets personal - bridges burnt
Here is a posting some of you might find clinically interesting. Not the first either, as I can see. I suffer from bipolar disorder that I developed in graduate school when I was doing my MA in general psych. Motivated to overcome my challenges and succeed professionally, I decided at the time to continue pursuing my aspirations and finish my degree. I had goals of pursuing my PhD and making it in the field as a scientist-practitioner. I had a specific research interest. I graduated from... Help! I have less than 0 idea what specialty
M3 at the end of clinical rotations, and I'm getting a bit anxious not knowing what I want to do. I'd appreciate some advice. Non-negotiables: -Not surgery...not surgery (think Harry potter and his aversion to Slytherin lol). Small office procedures are fine, but I don't like the OR and have very little interest in being in a field where the OR is a large part. -Having time off is important to me--I don't want to be stuck in the hospital all day, all weekends, etc. It doesn't have to... Masters Before PhD?
I'm an undergrad senior about to finish my bachelor's in psychology (with an emphasis in neuroscience) and I want to eventually end up in a clinical psychology program. I've applied to three programs so far, but I don't have much research experience (I only did literature reviews) so I doubt I'm going to get into one right now. Thinking of leaving NP school for medical school
Some questions I ask myself when trying to make this decision are: I am aging in dog years in my current position. Can I stick this out much longer? If I continue and decide later to go to medical school after NP, that's 35K more on top of the 35K already spent plus undergrad loans. If I quit the program, that's a 35K mistake with nothing to show for it. How would I look to admissions for quitting the program, but also reference above. Empathizing more selectively
For those of you who tend to absorb others' feelings, how did you learn to balance your empathic nature with self-differentiation, to have boundaries that are porous enough to be therapeutic but structured enough to protect yourself?
