Chances of anesthesia/FM
Hello everyone, I am an IMG whose situation is a little different from the majority. I graduated medical school more than 20 years ago, practiced as a surgeon(subspecialty) in my home country and came here to the US 10 years ago , did a few surgical fellowships in my subspecialty and was employed in the midwest with no board certification. I quit that job (which I enjoyed) mainly because of family pressure/ situation and decided to pursue a residency. I have just completed 2 years of... Hi all, I just recently applied to over 70 programs but needed some help now in deciding what makes a good program and if any current Residents could give input on their programs and things they wish they knew as they were on the Interview trail. What is "valuable" research experience?
I intend to apply to PhD programs in Clinical Psych. Reading through SDN, I have learned that research "grunt work" (such as coding) does not look too impressive on an application. But what exactly is valuable and/or impressive research experience? I know that it's important to have publications and poster presentations. But what about the day-to-day responsibilities of a research assistant? Do they matter? Do some types of research experiences look better than others on an application, or... Sorry for the dramatic title, but I'm a medical student considering psychiatry as a specialty and I was hoping I might get some enlightening answers here. Psychiatry and Psychotherapy?
I know that psychiatrists as a whole tend not to utilize psychotherapy as often as they used to years ago because their services in terms of medication management and such are more valued... therefore the therapy is often done by psychologists and social workers. Hello Everyone, To keep this concise as possible I will get straight to the point. I had a 2.4 gpa and raised it to a 3.4 and hopefully I can raise it a tad bit more by the end these last quarters. However, what i'm worried about is the retakes. I got a D in calculus 1 & 2 and failed calculus 3. I have since retaken them and received A's in all three.
