Schools to apply to
Hi everyone, I took my DAT 2 months ago and I got 19 AA, 19 TS, 23 GC and no score less than 17. I will graduate from Wayne State University in MI with a Bachelor's of Art in Chemistry on Dec 12, 2017. My GPA is 3.6 and science GPA is 3.54. I applied to 10 schools so far in August. Any suggestion of what schools I should apply to? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Of the people that get into only 1 school, how many get off the waitlist?
This is really confusing to me. It seems like luck plays a huge role since half of all people in med school get into only one. But if a lot of those people got off a waitlist... then that would be a more interconnected system right? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Retaking high MCAT for insane score
There's been some interesting discussion on this; would any of you, especially @Goro, @WedgeDawg and @LizzyM care to weigh in on this? Suppose a 3.6/516 applicant with balanced scores and decent-to-good ECs (Division III runner, 500 hours volunteering in a hospice, 200 hours in a soup kitchen, 100 hours shadowing, 1,000 hours of research and three poster presentations) were to retake her MCAT. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with any peer-reviewed journal that publishes clinical vignettes pertinent to ophthalmology that are meant to showcase the disease presentation, sort of at the level for medical students/early residents or non-ophtho physicians. What are some of your methods for staying motivated?
Hi all! I'm currently a pre-medical student with 3 years to go before I start applying to grad schools. So far, my academic experience has been incredibly rewarding and all around worth it, but it has also provided me with quite the emotional roller coaster (which from what I have heard, only gets worse...please tell me if I'm wrong!). I don't want to be a DO, but I'm struggling
I have wanted to be a doctor my whole life, but I've seriously been getting advised to apply to DO schools. I know DOs are doctors, but I know that people look down on DOs and I don't want to know that for the rest of my life, I couldn't become an MD because my grades weren't up to par and now I'm viewed as a second tier doctor. In my personal statement I talk (briefly, like 2-3 sentences) about a job I held in undergrad. I didn't include the job under ERAS's Work experience bc it just seemed like resume padding.
