Need some advice
So I have been waiting and waiting, still haven't heard from a handful of schools. I have received one app pending and one II from a DO school and got waitlisted (the rest rejections). I really liked what I saw at the school. Anyways I just finished taking a class (cancer bio) and got an A. I have been debating sending a letter of intent but the "A" and a small job promotion (work in a restaurant) would be my only updates. The school was super cool and would be ecstatic to be admitted but... Need some advice (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Feeling like I'm a total loser
I'm a little sad today. Not really looking for people to tell me I'm wrong, I kind of get that already. Some brief background: In undergrad, was in a sorority and a pretty serious relationship all 4 years. Being pre-med and in lab all the time for research, was hard for me to learn how to balance everything. Had an absolute dingus of a PI who demanded that I be in lab 16 hours a day and with classes, I was too tired to do much else. My first two/three years I was pretty good about going to... Research Experience?
Hi guys! I'm a little confused about what counts as research experience vs animal experience. I was a lab assistant at my university's marine biology laboratory where I was on protocol for 2 research experiments involving stingrays and sharks. The research was not my own, I was just helping two other people with their research by helping take care of the animals and collect data. I did things like feed them, keep up with the tanks, take daily water quality readings, keep records for IACUC,... Research Experience? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medical School for the non-traditional applicant - w/o all prerequisites
I have wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember. I was constantly deterred from pursuing this while in college from family members and friends and ultimately decided against pursuing it. However, everything brings me back to it which is why, despite pushback, I am pursuing it. Long story short - I graduated undergrad a few years ago with a behavior science degree in health care management and I have an MBA. Teacher-Student Relationship
As the new semester begins, my goal is to develop a good a relationship with one of my professors so I can later ask for an LOR. My problem is: how do you guys develop a "good" relationship? the way i normally go about it is simply being on good terms with the teacher: listen to lectures, look focused, show focus by translating to test grades. but after browsing through SDN, i realized that isn't enough to provide good materials for the professor for the LOR. Anyone been a PT Aide before? Connecting it to OT...
Hi, I currently work as a PT aide (bc no OT aide jobs available) and am having a hard time connecting it to OT. I've gained a better appreciation for physical therapy, but by being surrounded by it daily I often forget to connect it to OT especially since I see a lot of overlap. None of the patients have required OT as part of their rehab, yet they're able to go back to doing the things that add meaning to their life once they're finished with PT. My OAT was this morning, and I began formally studying at the beginning of August (late, I know). 3.65 GPA gray area?
I might just be neurotic but I feel slightly uneased by my 3.65 GPA. On one end, it's definitely below the median for average MD schools (3.75).
