Rank list: Honest vs defensive
Program directors and those in the know: I'm interested in two programs in close geographic proximity, both interviews went well. One is my home institution who would probably rank me to match if I told them they were #1 (Institution A) but they are in fact #2. They have gobs of opportunities and a great culture. The other program is my actual, heartfelt #1 (Institution B). They have gobs of opportunities, with a few that would be hard/impossible to pursue at A. I e-mailed B after my... EM residencies with sports medicine exposure
Hey all. I'm a third year med student at a US MD med school who will be applying EM next year, just deciding if I want to do IM/CCM on top of that for now. Random, possibly strange question here. I've been an athlete and huge sports fan all my life, and though I don't think I'd spend extra time to do a fellowship in sports med (mostly for financial reasons), I was wondering if any EM residency programs had a good amount of sports exposure? I mean mostly as getting to act as part of a... EM residencies with sports medicine exposure (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job Outlook for Neurology?
Hello everyone, I understand that there have been previous questions about neurology that were similar, but the last one that was posted was nearly 5 years ago. So I was wondering, to those who are involved in neurology, what the job outlook looks like? I find neurology to be very interesting, and personally suffer from a peripheral nerve disorder (which sparked my interest), but have found out that it is a low paying specialty. Apparently most neurologists make around 250,000/year which is... Job Outlook for Neurology? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Almost graduate planning to apply to a pharmacy school
I'm going to graduate this upcoming year and I'm looking into applying for Pharmacy school. I meet the requirements but I know that's not enough to get in. I mostly get B's and A's with 2 C's throughout my time at university. I'm not the most confident person so I'm holding back from even applying in the first place since I feel like I wouldn't get in. I'd like to hear from current pharmacy students regarding what I should know/consider before going into the program? How's pharmacy school so... Nursing vs Pharmacy school?
I'm about to graduate this coming spring and I'm deciding whether to go into Nursing or Pharmacy school. I've read about the expectations and duties of an RN and a pharmacist but I would also like to consider the advantages/disadvantages. Is it possible?
At the beginning of my sophmore year of community college, of 5 classes taken I received 2 F's and a D. The 2 F's were in political science and art history, while the D was in Astronomy. Following that unsavory semester I took a year hiatus from school and did various things in an effort to "find myself". After that year I came back to school and finished my sophmore year with a 4.0--this included retaking these courses. Next I was lucky to be accepted into a top UC. My first year at... I've gotten the same (low) score on both bsce2 and cbse from my school. Does this mean I'm stuck? My school offers two NBMEs in the last term of MS2 and I got a raw score of 74 in both even though I read a lot after bsce2 before cbse. I feel a little scared but I am starting dedicated tomorrow so I pray to improve. Did anyone also take a cbse and how did your score correlate to your actual step score. Just out of curiousity
I probably already know the answer to this question but here goes anyway .. Well as we know Pharm is saturated. I’m only a P1 but I do want to do residency so I’m trying my best to maintain a good GPA etc etc. In the off chance I don’t get residency I’ll probably be working retail like many others, fine. When I tell my classmates that I worry about not finding a job when I graduate they tell me I’m crazy because by the time I graduate I’ll have 15 years of pharm experience so it won’t be... Consulting other services for "basic" skills
We had a very unfortunate case recently where a patient died of aspiration after an attempted NG tube placement. The events leading up to the aspiration caused a lot of discussion at our M&M. The patient clearly had an ileus and was vomiting and needed an NG tube. We asked the nurse to try, then the charge nurse when that wasn't successful. At this point we considered consulting general surgery for the NG tube placement, as none of us (urology residents) had any significant experience... Hey guys, Im currently a junior in college looking to apply to MD schools at the time of/after graduation. Med school vs dental school mentality
I’ve been browsing the medical school forums lately, (its fun, there’s a ton of drama) and I’ve found that there’s a big difference in mentality of choosing your school. In the dental school threads, you seem to be sent to a firing squad if you chose a more expensive private school over a cheaper state school. Over in the med forums, however, the majority vote is to take the hit financially and go with the more reputable school even if it is a lot more. Some people, I’ve seen, even regret... I've been using UpToDate (through my school) for the past 2 years but got a DynamedPlus subscription through ACP around Thanksgiving. This thing is awesome!!
