Retake DAT?
My GPA is a 3.97 and I scored a 19AA, 19 PAT, 21TS with nothing below a 17. Should I retake the DAT? If I retake I will only study for two months when the winter semester finishes and retake early July. Does my GPA outweigh it or should I be on the safe side and try to aim for 20+? Why the heck is medical school so competitive to get into?
So just a background, I am a nontrad student who applied this cycle. I've had 6 DO interviews, 2 MD interviews, and a few acceptances. I've been working full time at a derm clinic. And from my experience, I honestly feel that medicine is just another job. You deal with unhappy people, you deal with bull crap, you deal with insurance, prior authorizations, headaches, extremely incompetent people, etc. I also feel patients have the sense that you owe them a lot because they are paying you, or... Is it OK to watch medical TV dramas?
I am a premed and the only time I watched any medical dramas was when I watched scrubs and grays anatomy in middle school. Right now I kind of want to continue watching grays anatomy and also this new show the good doctor, but I am scared exposing myself to these dramatized renditions will give me a misperception of what medicine is and cause me to go in to medicine for the wrong reasons. Can I indulge myself in these dramas, or will its effects unavoidably bleed through? As background... Is it OK to watch medical TV dramas? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Best psychiatrist personality types
What type of personality do the happiest/most fulfilled psychiatrists tend to have? Does working as a psychiatrist have a negative impact on one's own mental health? I'd like to get some feedback on this and get an idea of what type of personality types tend to do best in the field. Which medical speciality has the best ratio between how wast and deep it is?
Hope this isnt a bad forum, atleast not somehow extremely bad. Now to the question, maybe it is caused by lack of info but I do have a feeling that with med speciality you can go either really deep on a small scale or you have a broad but not so deep playfield. He demanded to be diagnosed with bipolar disorder and be started on meds for that. I got him admitted for inpatient detox. History gathering showed no major mood symptoms in absence of drinking. Return to work in hometown/Financial Help?

I have been in contact with the physician recruiter there for many years (went to high school with her, arranged shadowing through her, arranged healthcare volunteering through her, was on a local committe with her, etc), and I was just wondering if it would be unprofessional to express interest in returning to that area and possibly mention financial... Help! CRNAs and 1099s
We're a small pp group at an undesirable location. Recently, perhaps due to the percentage of locums we had, the state came in to see why we had so many 1099s. Long story short, since CRNAs require supervision, and we provide them with all the tools they need to do their job, they're not considered "independent contractors" by the state (or the 2 law firms we asked). We'd lose all our locums if we force them into W2s. Has anyone had to deal with this before? How can we justify a CRNA as 1099? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
