Letters of Interest/Intent and Scholarships
Can sending a letter of intent or interest prevent one from getting a scholarship by making the school believe they would attend without a scholarship. Also, would it be unprofessional to tactfully say in the letter that school X is my top choice and I would attend as long as it was financially feasible. Essentially, my top school is one I couldn't go to without a scholarship. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Calculus
So I've generally been skilled at math (with the exception of geometry and trigonometry), but calculus is starting to get me now because my professor does not quite go over everything that is on the homework and on the tests. What are the best ways I can do well? We have Math Help and Office Hours, so should I go to those every week? I've gone a few times but they weren't super helpful. Maybe I need to ask better questions. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I may have been slowly sinking my own ship this whole time...advice PLEASE?
Hi all (WARNING: this is going to be long so please bare with me), I recently graduated in May with a B.S. in Biology. I was delayed by two years in undergrad due to college transfers and major changes. I didn't even know when I was graduating and everything just happened in one swoop towards the end so I have not had any time at all to apply to dental school. However, I finished all my pre-requisites necessary for the track and most schools I've looked at. So now my plan is to take this... Seeking feedback on mid-career change
I'd welcome some perspective on my career aspirations from people who have been down the Ph.D. path. I'm considering a career change. I earned a BA from Michigan and a MS from MIT in fields not related to psychology. Currently, I work in an administrative/management position at Columbia. For many years, I've felt a vocational pull toward questions of the mind, of people's motivations, and how things such as trauma, healing/recovery, and meaning-making affect our personal sense of agency and... Neuropsychiatry/ behavioral neurology
So I had posted another threat similar to this but had some additional and different questions. I see that behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry are lumped together into on subspecialty. Fellows may come from various primary training pathways (neurolpgy, psychiatry or both) but in the end after the fellowship they all taketh same certifying exam and are in the same subspecialty. Due to this, I read that they are interchangeable and can call themselves either a Neuropsychiatrist or... Neuropsychiatry/ behavioral neurology (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Will you dispense syringes no questions asked?
Assuming that your state laws will allow you to dispense insulin syringes without a prescription, will you do it when it's your decision to do so? As an intern, I abide by what my pharmacist tells me he/she will allow. My personal feeling is that I'd rather sell syringes (never just one syringe) to an IV drug abuser than force them to re-use or borrow syringes and risk infection with a blood-borne pathogen. I think it's a public health issue. What do you guys think? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why do PDs care about research (on a philosophical level)
I'm trying to go into a competitive specialty and decided to take a year off for research to improve my chances. It makes me wonder though, what is it about research that makes residencies find you a better applicant? Seems to me that if you can find a good mentor, it's very easy to publish a bunch of papers. All research is at a med student level is copy pasting data off of patient charts into an excel sheet, dumping it on a statistician to do the dirty work, and then mimicking an already...
