Einstein vs Jefferson (SKMC)
Need some help deciding between these two. A little bit about me: I’m looking at surgical subspecialties like ortho, preferably on the East Coast. I have full tuition offers from both, and from my impressions, students are extremely happy at both schools. Both have P/F preclinicals and graded clerkships. Both are far from family. Jeff Pros -better matches into competitive specialties -loved the location in central Philly -more home programs Cons -large class size, kinda too big... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Start medical school in Cairo, Egypt with an American Bachelors Degree?
Hi everyone, I live in the US and I have an American citizenship, but my parents are Egyptian. I received my BS from an American university and I was wondering if it would be possible to start medical school in Egypt. I know that it would have to be one of the private ones (MUST or 6oct) since I don't have the egyptian citizenship, which would probably take a very very long time to complete. So the details are that I have my degree in Human Biology, I completed my pre-med courses, took my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Finding Clinical Research In Psychiatry for Experience?
I am interested in getting involved in clinical research since it may be helpful when applying for residency as a DO. As a bonus, I believe it would also help me to confirm that the field is a good fit and something that I can be invested in long term, but I am not sure how to get my foot in the door. I have emailed a few places (and may consider cold calling tomorrow since almost everything is closed in the US at this time) but haven't gotten results as presumably they have other things to... DAT Experience after two Attempts with Bootcamp and Booster
Hey everyone! Hope the studying endeavors are going well! I recently took the DAT for the second time and wanted to share my experience in the hopes of helping anyone who might be struggling with the daunting process that is the DAT. A little background on myself. I graduated after the fall semester of 2022 with a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry and had a cumulative gpa of ~3.5. It was not until after graduating that I decided I wanted to pursue dentistry so preparing for the DAT... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Did any docs take the QBI deduction on their taxes?
And I'm referring to taking the QBI for being a doctor, not for other businesses they might have. This applies to 1099 docs, and those with an S-Corp or an LLC for just being an ER doctor. I qualified for it in the past several years, it was a nice tax break. But this year I didn't, and I'm not sure why. My wife and I have W2 and 1099 income (my wife is not a doctor and she gets a W2, and I get a W2 and 1099 from the hospitals I work at), and my 1099 business after expenses was about... Feinberg vs Vanderbilt
Hey guys! Any insight on choosing between Vandy and NW would be so appreciated. Vanderbilt Pros 1 year pre-clinical (lots of time to explore specialties) P/F clerkships in M2 (no ranking) 3rd and 4th years give plenty of time and explore/research (would likely not need to take a research year) Small class size Enjoyed my second look and met a lot of people I get along with (lots of us have taken gap years Cons Nashville Not super diverse--... PI LoR will be late
Hi again everyone, So I've been prepping my application materials to hopefully submit everything Day 1, but i just heard from my PI that her LoR won't be finished until late June or early July. I am fairly confident that I need this letter, and I don't have a substitute. I believe this leaves me with two options, which I will leave below. Please let me know which option you think would be best, or let me know if I missed a third option. 1. I submit my primary Day 1 to a single, throw away... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SBRT dose constraints & TG101
There has not been an update to SBRT dose constraints in years. It is well understood by experts that some dose constraints (e.g. spinal cord) are well validated and should be respected while others (e.g. great vessels) are essentially made-up and are routinely violated for target coverage. Personally, I completely ignore the intermediate SBRT dose constraints as they make absolutely no sense to me. From talking to colleagues, it seems like constraint violation is directly proportional... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
