Examining the Impact of Assistive Technology on Psychological Health, Family Education, and Curriculum Research in Japan: Insights from Artificial Intelligence
This study aims to analyze the effect of psychological health based on artificial intelligence agent technology on the implementation effect of Japanese family education. By combining mobile agent technology and education thought, the system structure and working mechanism of the education support system of agents are studied to build personalized support for the family education system based on mobile agents. A total of 320 Japanese middle school students were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 160 cases in each group. The control group received traditional family health education, while...

Characterization of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae isolated from pigs in Japan using whole genome sequencing
Comp Immunol Microbiol Infect Dis. 2023 Sep 9;102:102062. doi: 10.1016/j.cimid.2023.102062. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe conducted whole-genome sequencing to investigate the serotypes, the presence of virulence and antimicrobial resistance genes, and the genetic relationships among isolates of Actinobacillus. pleuropneumoniae derived from diseased pigs. Serotype 2 (71.2%) was the most common, but the prevalence of serotypes 6 (13.6%) and 15 (6.8%) increased. Existing vaccines are considered ineffective on the isolates belonging to serotypes 6 and 15. The phylogenetic tree based on core genome single nucleotide polymorp...

Serum steroid metabolite profiling by LC-MS/MS in two phenotypic male patients with HSD17B3 deficiency: implications for hormonal diagnosis
We examined two 46,XY Japanese patients with undermasculinized genitalia including hypospadias (patient 1 and patient 2). Endocrine studies by IA showed well increased serum T value after hCG stimulation (2.91ng/mL) and a high T/A-dione ratio (4.04) in patient 1 at 2 weeks of age and sufficiently elevated basal serum T value (2.60ng/mL) in patient 2 at 1.5 months of age. Despite such partial androgen insensitivity syndrome-like findings, whole exome sequencing identified biallelic ″pathogenic″ or ″likely pathogenic″ variants in HSD17B3 (c.188C>T:p.(Ala63Val) and c.194C>T:p.(Ser65Leu) in patient 1, and c.139A&...

Development of a duplex real-time RT-PCR assay for the detection and identification of two subgroups of human metapneumovirus in a single tube
In this study, we developed a real-time RT-PCR assay that can detect and identify the two major subgroups of hMPV (A and B) in one tube. Primers and probes were designed based on the sequences of recent clinical isolates in Japan. The assay showed comparable analytical sensitivity to a previously reported real-time RT-PCR assay and specific reactions to hMPV subgroups. The assay also showed no cross-reactivity to clinical isolates of 19 species of other respiratory viruses. In a validation assay using post-diagnosed clinical specimens, 98% (167/170) positivity was confirmed for the duplex assay, and the three specimens not...

A comprehensive overview of investigational elastase inhibitors for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome
Expert Opin Investig Drugs. 2023 Sep 23:1-10. doi: 10.1080/13543784.2023.2263366. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Excessive activity of neutrophil elastase (NE), the main enzyme present in azurophil granules in the neutrophil cytoplasm, may cause tissue injury and remodeling in various lung diseases, including acute lung injury (ALI)/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), in which it is crucial to the immune response and inflammatory process. Consequently, NE is a possible target for therapeutic intervention in ALI/ARDS.AREAS COVERED: The protective effects of several NE inhibitors in attenuating ALI/ARDS ...

Impact of surgical treatment for intramedullary spinal cord metastasis on neurological function and survival: A multicenter retrospective study by the Neurospinal Society of Japan
CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that surgical treatment can maintain or improve neurological function in a limited number of patients with ISCM, although it had minimal impact on improving the survival rate after surgery.PMID:37740999 | DOI:10.1016/j.jocn.2023.09.013 (Source: Clinical Lung Cancer)
