Roles of AhR/CYP1s Signal Pathway Mediated ROS Production in Uremic Cardiomyopathy
CONCLUSION: This study provides evidence that the AhR/CYP1s pathway is activated in UCM rats, and this activation is correlated with the uremic toxin IS. In vitro studies indicate that IS can stimulate the AhR translocation in cardiomyocyte, triggering to the production of intracellular ROS via CYP1s. This process leads to prolonged oxidative stress stimulation and thus contributes to the progression of uremic toxin-mediated cardiomyopathy.PMID:38670245 | DOI:10.1016/j.toxlet.2024.04.005 (Source: Toxicology Letters)

Transition from pediatrics to adult health care in girls with turner syndrome
Expert Rev Endocrinol Metab. 2024 Apr 25:1-12. doi: 10.1080/17446651.2024.2347265. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Turner Syndrome is a rare condition secondary to a complete or partial loss of one X chromosome, leading to a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. Short stature, gonadal dysgenesis, cardiovascular malformations, and dysmorphic features characterize its common clinical picture.AREAS COVERED: The main endocrine challenges in adolescent girls with Turner Syndrome are puberty induction (closely intertwined with growth) and fertility preservation. We discuss the most important clinical aspects that...

Role of cyclophilin A in aggravation of myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury via regulation of apoptosis mediated by thioredoxin-interacting protein
CONCLUSION: These findings highlight the critical role CypA plays in myocardial injury caused by oxidative stress-induced apoptosis, indicating that CypA can be a viable biomarker and a therapeutic target candidate for MI/RI.PMID:38669522 | DOI:10.3233/CH-242142 (Source: Work)

County-Level Cardiac Rehabilitation and Broadband Availability: Opportunities for Hybrid Care in the United States
CONCLUSIONS: Almost half of US adults live in CR deserts. Given that up to 97% of adults living in CR deserts may have broadband access, implementation of hybrid CR programs that include a telehealth component could expand CR availability to as many as 113 million US adults.PMID:38669319 | DOI:10.1097/HCR.0000000000000865 (Source: Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention)

Clinician perspectives regarding CYP2C19 genotype testing in patients with critical limb ischemia: A Delphi approach
CONCLUSIONS: PAD interventionalists practicing at an academic health system recognize the heterogenous response of their patients to clopidogrel therapy but are unsure when to leverage genetic testing to improve outcomes for their patients. Our study identified gaps regarding PAD interventionalists' knowledge, perceived barriers, and attitudes toward CYP2C19 testing in PAD. This information highlights the need for randomized data on genetic testing for clopidogrel responsiveness in peripheral vascular disease following intervention to help guide antiplatelet management.PMID:38669051 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241246318 (Source: Vascular)

Exploring Regular Exercisers' Experiences with Readiness/Recovery Scores Produced by Wearable Devices: A Descriptive Qualitative Study
This study explores individuals' experiences with wearable devices and their associated readiness or recovery scores. Seventeen regular exercisers who owned and used a Whoop™ band or Oura™ ring for at least 3 months participated in a one-on-one virtual semi-structured interview. Interviews were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis, with themes supported by 'in-vivo' quotes. This paper focuses on three key themes for a comprehensive demonstration. Theme 1, 'It's more about how I can make adjustments to optimize my programming,' (MPR) highlights users' intended use of wearables for guiding training decisions. Theme...
