Characteristics of early gastric tumors with different differentiation and predictors of long-term outcomes after endoscopic submucosal dissection
CONCLUSION: Differentiations of gastric mucosal tumors have different epidemiological and endoscopic characteristics, which are closely related to the safety and efficacy of ESD.PMID:38681129 | PMC:PMC11045489 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i14.1990 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology : WJG)

The Role of Delirium on Short- and Long-Term Postoperative Outcomes Following Major Gastrointestinal Surgery for Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Postoperative delirium occurred in one in 50 patients undergoing surgical resection of a digestive tract cancer. Delirium was linked to a reduced likelihood of achieving an optimal postoperative outcome, increased ICU utilization, higher expenditures, and a worse long-term prognosis. Initiatives to prevent delirium are vital to improve postoperative outcomes among cancer surgery patients.PMID:38683304 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15358-x (Source: Ann Oncol)

Chronological Trend of Opportunistic Endoscopic Screening for Gastric Cancer and Atrophic Gastritis
CONCLUSIONS: The gastric cancer detection rate and atrophic gastritis prevalence have decreased over time. However, continuing endoscopic screening is important, especially for those at a high risk of developing gastric cancer complicated by severe atrophic gastritis.PMID:38679984 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1247 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

The Expression Analysis of < em > MEST1 < /em > and < em > GJA1 < /em > Genes in Gastric Cancer in Association with Clinicopathological Characteristics
Conclusion: The obtained data showed the important role of EMT-related genes, Gja1 and Mest1 in the clinical progression of the tumor. Further studies with larger sample sizes are required to confirm these genes as biomarker candidates for detecting gastric cancer.PMID:38680714 | PMC:PMC11055422 | DOI:10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14747 (Source: Cell Research)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1741: Gastric Cancer Surgery: Balancing Oncological Efficacy against Postoperative Morbidity and Function Detriment
Nilsson Significant progress has been made in the surgical management of gastric cancer over the years, and previous discrepancies in surgical practice between different parts of the world have gradually lessened. A transition from the earlier period of progressively more extensive surgery to the current trend of a more tailored and evidence-based approach is clear. Prophylactic resection of adjacent anatomical structures or neighboring organs and extensive lymph node dissections that were once assumed to increase the chances of long-term survival are now performed selectively. Laparoscopic gastrectomy has been widely ...

Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 2043: Extraction and Isolation of Two Polysaccharides from Chloranthus japonicus Sieb. and Evaluation of Their Anti-Gastric Cancer Activities
g Zhimin Zhao Two unreported heteropolysaccharides, denoted as YCJP–1 and YCJP–2, were isolated from the herbs of Chloranthus japonicus. YCJP–1 was a heteropolysaccharide composed of glucose, galactose, arabinose, mannose, rhamnose, and a minor proportion of uronic acids, with the molecular weight mainly distributed in the 74,475–228,443 Da range. YCJP–2 was mainly composed of glucose, mannose, and galactose, with the molecular weights ranging from 848 to 5810 Da. To further evaluate the anti-gastric cancer effects of C. japonicus, the inhibitory e...

Biological functions of Circular RNA_LARP4/ Upstream frameshift 1 in development of gastric cancer
This study aimed to identify the role of circular RNA_LARP4 in GC. We performed real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) in 46 paired GC patients and GC cell lines to detect the expression of circular RNA_LARP4. Moreover, the role of circular RNA_LARP4 in GC proliferation was identified through proliferation assay and colony formation assay, while the role of circular RNA_LARP4 in GC metastasis was measured through scratch wound assay and transwell assay. Furthermore, the potential targets of circular RNA_LARP4 were predicted through bioinformatics methods and further identified by western blot assay and ...

Circular RNA hsa_circ_0094976 modulates GPR155 to inhibit gastric adenocarcinoma malignant characteristics by targeting miR-223-3p
CONCLUSION: We disclosed that circ_0094976 could act as a sponge of miR-223-3p to regulate the expression of GPR155, and further restrain the development of GA, which may provide new insight into the therapy of GA.PMID:38678850 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2024.155325 (Source: Pathology, Research and Practice)
