Dynamic change in the peritoneal cancer index based on CT after chemotherapy in the overall survival prediction of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis
ConclusionCT analysis after chemotherapy could predict OS in patients with GCPM. The CT-PCI change ratio could contribute to the determination of an appropriate strategy for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology)

Exploring new frontiers: cell surface vimentin as an emerging marker for circulating tumor cells and a promising therapeutic target in advanced gastric Cancer
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) hold immense promise in guiding treatment strategies for advanced gastric cancer (GC). However, their clinical impact has been limited due to challenges in identifying epithelial... (Source: Journal of Experimental and Clinical Cancer Research)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1747: Recent Progress in Treatment for HER2-Positive Advanced Gastric Cancer
aki Human epidermal receptor (HER) 2-positive advanced gastric cancer is one of the major subtypes of gastric cancer, accounting for ~20% of all cases. Although combination therapy with trastuzumab and chemotherapy provides meaningful survival benefit, clinical trials targeting HER2 have failed to demonstrate clinical benefits in first- or subsequent-line treatment. Trastuzumab deruxtecan, an antibody–drug conjugate, has shown positive results even in later-line treatment and has become new standard treatment. In first-line therapy, combination therapy with pembrolizumab and trastuzumab plus chemotherapy ...

YTHDF1 regulates immune cell infiltration in gastric cancer via interaction with p53
In conclusion, the findings of the present study indicate that YTHDF1 is associated with a poor prognosis and serves an important role in the TME of GC. We hypothesize, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, that YTHDF1 regulates immune cell infiltration by interacting with p53 in GC, which provides a promising direction for future research.PMID:38682111 | PMC:PMC11046265 | DOI:10.3892/etm.2024.12543 (Source: Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine)

Chronological Trend of Opportunistic Endoscopic Screening for Gastric Cancer and Atrophic Gastritis
CONCLUSIONS: The gastric cancer detection rate and atrophic gastritis prevalence have decreased over time. However, continuing endoscopic screening is important, especially for those at a high risk of developing gastric cancer complicated by severe atrophic gastritis.PMID:38679984 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1247 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

The Role of Delirium on Short- and Long-Term Postoperative Outcomes Following Major Gastrointestinal Surgery for Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Postoperative delirium occurred in one in 50 patients undergoing surgical resection of a digestive tract cancer. Delirium was linked to a reduced likelihood of achieving an optimal postoperative outcome, increased ICU utilization, higher expenditures, and a worse long-term prognosis. Initiatives to prevent delirium are vital to improve postoperative outcomes among cancer surgery patients.PMID:38683304 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15358-x (Source: Ann Oncol)
