YTHDF1 regulates immune cell infiltration in gastric cancer via interaction with p53
In conclusion, the findings of the present study indicate that YTHDF1 is associated with a poor prognosis and serves an important role in the TME of GC. We hypothesize, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, that YTHDF1 regulates immune cell infiltration by interacting with p53 in GC, which provides a promising direction for future research.PMID:38682111 | PMC:PMC11046265 | DOI:10.3892/etm.2024.12543 (Source: Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine)

Ethnopharmacological uses of fauna among the people of central Punjab, Pakistan
This study focuses on investigating the utilization of animal-based traditional medicine by the people of Pakistan, specifically in the Gujranwala area.METHODS: Data collection took place from January to September 2019 through interviews with local communities. Ethnomedicinal applications of animal products were analyzed using several indices, including Relative Frequency of Citation (RFC), Relative Popularity Level (RPL), Folk Use Value (FL), and Relative Occurrence Percentage (ROP).RESULTS: The study identified the use of different body parts of 54 species of animals in treating various diseases and health issues. These ...

Critical updates in neuroendocrine tumors: Version 9 American Joint Committee on Cancer staging system for gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors
CA Cancer J Clin. 2024 Apr 29. doi: 10.3322/caac.21840. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system for all cancer sites, including gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs), is meant to be dynamic, requiring periodic updates to optimize AJCC staging definitions. This entails the collaboration of experts charged with evaluating new evidence that supports changes to each staging system. GEP-NETs are the second most prevalent neoplasm of gastrointestinal origin after colorectal cancer. Since publication of the AJCC eighth edition, the World Health Organization has ...

The Role of Delirium on Short- and Long-Term Postoperative Outcomes Following Major Gastrointestinal Surgery for Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Postoperative delirium occurred in one in 50 patients undergoing surgical resection of a digestive tract cancer. Delirium was linked to a reduced likelihood of achieving an optimal postoperative outcome, increased ICU utilization, higher expenditures, and a worse long-term prognosis. Initiatives to prevent delirium are vital to improve postoperative outcomes among cancer surgery patients.PMID:38683304 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15358-x (Source: Ann Oncol)

Chronological Trend of Opportunistic Endoscopic Screening for Gastric Cancer and Atrophic Gastritis
CONCLUSIONS: The gastric cancer detection rate and atrophic gastritis prevalence have decreased over time. However, continuing endoscopic screening is important, especially for those at a high risk of developing gastric cancer complicated by severe atrophic gastritis.PMID:38679984 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1247 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

FANCA facilitates G1/S cell cycle advancement, proliferation, migration and invasion in gastric cancer
Acta Biochim Biophys Sin (Shanghai). 2024 Apr 29. doi: 10.3724/abbs.2024045. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present study explores the function of FANCA gene, a pivotal member of the Fanconi anaemia (FA) pathway crucial for preserving genomic stability and preventing cancer, particularly in the context of gastric cancer (GC). Using immunohistochemistry, quantitative real-time PCR, and western blot analysis, we evaluate FANCA mRNA and protein expressions in GC cell lines. The relationship between FANCA expression and clinicopathological characteristics is also explored. Various assays, including CCK8, colony formation, w...
