Impact of abdominal compression on heart and stomach motion for stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation
CONCLUSIONS: AC was not a consistent motion management method for STAR, nor does not uniformly affect the separation distance between LVCs and the stomach. If AC is employed in future STAR protocols, the motion of the target volume and its relative distance to the stomach should be compared on two 4DCTs: one while the patient is FB and one under AC.PMID:38661250 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14346 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

History of chronic gastritis: How our perceptions have changed
World J Gastroenterol. 2024 Apr 7;30(13):1851-1858. doi: 10.3748/wjg.v30.i13.1851.ABSTRACTCurrently, the diagnostic strategy for chronic gastritis (CG) is aimed not just at fixing the presence of gastric mucosal inflammation, but also at gastric cancer (GC) risk stratification in a particular patient. Modern classification approach with the definition of the stage of gastritis determines the need, activities and frequency of dynamic monitoring of a patient. However, this attitude to the patient suffering from CG was far from always. The present publication is a literature review describing the key milestones in the history...

Comparison of the Efficacy of 12-day Concomitant Quadruple Therapy versus 14-day High dose Dual Therapy as a First-line < em > H. pylori < /em > Eradication Regimen
CONCLUSIONS: Twelve-day concomitant therapy seems to be an acceptable regimen for first-line H. pylori eradication in Iran, a country with a high rate of antibiotic resistance. Although, high dose dual therapy did not result in an ideal eradication rate, but it had fewer drug side effects than the 12-day concomitant regimen.PMID:38659251 | DOI:10.4166/kjg.2024.012 (Source: Korean J Gastroenter...)

Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of ramucirumab combined with nab-paclitaxel, lobaplatin, and S-1 in neoadjuvant and conversion therapy for advanced gastric cancer: A study protocol of prospective single-center, randomized controlled and open label clinical trial (RNPLS-01)
This study is a prospective single-center, randomized controlled and open label clinical study, enrolling a total of 140 patients with advanced gastric cancer distributed across two distinct cohorts (Cohort A n = 70; Cohort B n = 70). The central focus of the study lies in evaluating the pathological complete response (pCR) of the cancer post-neoadjuvant or conversion therapy. Secondary endpoints encompass the assessment of the R0 resection rate subsequent to the aforementioned therapies, the occurrence of adverse events (AE), progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), the objective response rate (ORR), the to...

Present situation of minimally invasive surgical treatment for early gastric cancer
World J Gastrointest Oncol. 2024 Apr 15;16(4):1154-1165. doi: 10.4251/wjgo.v16.i4.1154.ABSTRACTMinimally invasive surgery is a kind of surgical operation, which is performed by using professional surgical instruments and equipment to inactivate, resect, repair or reconstruct the pathological changes, deformities and wounds in human body through micro-trauma or micro-approach, in order to achieve the goal of treatment, its surgical effect is equivalent to the traditional open surgery, while avoiding the morbidity of conventional surgical wounds. In addition, it also has the advantages of less trauma, less blood loss during ...

Interleukin 33 supports squamous cell carcinoma growth via a dual effect on tumour proliferation, migration and invasion, and T cell activation
AbstractInterleukin (IL)-33 is an important cytokine in the tumour microenvironment; it is known to promote the growth and metastasis of solid cancers, such as gastric, colorectal, ovarian and breast cancer. Our group demonstrated that the IL-33/ST2 pathway enhances the development of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Conversely, other researchers have reported that IL-33 inhibits tumour progression. In addition, the crosstalk between IL-33, cancer cells and immune cells in SCC remains unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of IL-33 on the biology of head and neck SCC lines and to evaluate the impact of ...

Neoadjuvant and/or adjuvant chemotherapy for gastric cancer patients with microsatellite instability or deficient mismatch repair: a systematic review and meta-analysis study protocol
This study protocol is reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols-P guideline. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane (CENTRAL), and the Web of Science databases will be searched, supplemented by a secondary screening of relevant records. Both randomised controlled trials and non-randomised studies will be included in this study. The primary and secondary outcomes under scrutiny will be overall survival, disease-free survival and progression-free survival. Two reviewers will independently screen studies, extract data and assess the risk of bias. We will analyse different treatm...

Deep learning-accelerated T2WI: image quality, efficiency, and staging performance against BLADE T2WI for gastric cancer
ConclusionsDLSB-T2WI demonstrated shorter acquisition time, better image quality, and comparable staging accuracy, which could be an alternative to BLADE-T2WI for gastric cancer imaging.Graphical abstract (Source: Abdominal Imaging)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1656: Gastric Inhibitory Polypeptide Receptor (GIPR) Overexpression Reduces the Tumorigenic Potential of Retinoblastoma Cells
e Dünker Retinoblastoma (RB) is the most common malignant intraocular tumor in early childhood. Gene expression profiling revealed that the gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR) is upregulated following trefoil factor family peptide 1 (TFF1) overexpression in RB cells. In the study presented, we found this G protein-coupled transmembrane receptor to be co-expressed with TFF1, a new diagnostic and prognostic RB biomarker for advanced subtype 2 RBs. Functional analyses in two RB cell lines revealed a significant reduction in cell viability and growth and a concomitant increase in apoptosis following stable, len...

Two new sesterterpenoids from Atractylodes japonica Koidz. ex Kitam
AbstractTwo new sesterterpenoids, atractylodes japonica terpenoid acid I (1) and atractylodes japonica terpenoid aldehyde I (2), were isolated from the rhizomes ofAtractylodes japonica Koidz. ex Kitam together with ten known compounds (3 –12). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of comprehensive spectroscopic analysis (1D/2D NMR, HRESIMS and IR). In addition, all of these isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against human gastric cancer cell MGC-803 and human hepatocellular cancer cell HepG-2. Most of them exhibited moderate to weak inhibitory effects with IC50 values in the range of...

Postoperative delayed massive bleeding in gastric cancer: a case report
ConclusionCurrently, there are no specific guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pseudoaneurysms in the abdominal cavity resulting from gastric cancer surgery. Early digital subtraction angiography examination should be performed to assist in formulating treatment plans. Early diagnosis and treatment contribute to an improved overall success rate of rescue interventions. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)
