Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1636: Heterocellular Adhesion in Cancer Invasion and Metastasis: Interactions between Cancer Cells and Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts
aki Cancer invasion is a requisite for the most malignant progression of cancer, that is, metastasis. The mechanisms of cancer invasion were originally studied using in vitro cell culture systems, in which cancer cells were cultured using artificial extracellular matrices (ECMs). However, conventional culture systems do not precisely recapitulate in vivo cancer invasion because the phenotypes of cancer cells in tumor tissues are strongly affected by the tumor microenvironment (TME). Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are the most abundant cell type in the TME and accelerate cancer progression through invasion, metast...

Pancreatitis after Percutaneous Transhepatic Biliary Intervention
A 50-year-old man who had undergone distal gastrectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy for gastric adenocarcinoma presented with new hyperbilirubinemia and biliary ductal dilation (Fig  1a, black arrow) secondary to a common bile duct (CBD) mass (Fig 1a, white arrow). Owing to his gastrojejunostomy (Fig 1a, open arrow), he was not a candidate for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. A percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram confirmed abrupt truncation of the CBD (Fig 1b, white arrow), and a brush biopsy (Cellebrity Cytology Brush; Boston Scientific, Marlborough, Massachsetts) was performed (Fig 1b, black arrow) bef...

GSE173219 High-throughput sequencing of oxidative stress for Human gastric cancer cell lines treatment with Bioactive polypeptide chelating selenium (ACBP-S-Se)
Contributor : Xiulan SuSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing ; Non-coding RNA profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensThe functional gene analyses revealed 911 upregulated genes and 1122 downregulated genes after ACBP-S-Se treatment in MKN-45 cells. From the functional enrichment analyses of oxidative stress-related genes, a total of 75 genes with significant differences were selected . From the gene interaction mapping, CDKN1A, CCNB1, TXN and MAP3K5 were extracted due to the roles of most genes with which they associate and to the significantly enriched pathways, which can...

Causal relationships of Helicobacter pylori and related gastrointestinal diseases on Type 2 diabetes: Univariable and Multivariable Mendelian randomization
ConclusionOur study found that H. pylori IgG antibody, H. pylori GroEL antibody, gastroduodenal ulcer and chronic gastritis are all related to t T2DM, and blood glucose level and obesity mediate the development of H. pylori GroEL antibody and gastroduodenal ulcer on T2DM, respectively. These findings may inform new prevention and intervention strategies for T2DM. (Source: PLoS One)

Biomarker-oriented chemo-immunotherapy for advanced gastric cancer
Int J Clin Oncol. 2024 Apr 22. doi: 10.1007/s10147-024-02525-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe biomarker-oriented chemo-immunotherapy is useful and promising in the development of new anticancer agents, since the responders can be enriched by selecting patients with biomarkers. Compared to colorectal and lung cancers, the development of biomarker-driven molecular-targeted therapeutics for gastric cancers has been straggled. However, several new biomarkers in gastric cancers have been discovered and clinical trials in enrichment design with certain biomarkers have been conducted. Therefore, there are currently several tr...

Family history and gastric cancer incidence and mortality in Asia: a pooled analysis of more than half a million participants
CONCLUSIONS: In this largest prospective study to date on family history and gastric cancer, a familial background of gastric cancer increased the risk of gastric cancer in the Asian population. Targeted education, screening, and intervention in these high-risk groups may reduce the burden of gastric cancer.PMID:38649672 | DOI:10.1007/s10120-024-01499-1 (Source: Cancer Control)
