Comprehensive Insights into Pediatric Craniopharyngioma: Endocrine and Metabolic Profiles, Treatment Challenges, and Long-term Outcomes with a Multicenter Approach
CONCLUSION: Recurrence was predominantly due to incomplete resection and the low rate of postoperative radiotherapy. It also emphasized challenges in multidisciplinary regular follow ups and suggested early interventions such as dietary restrictions and increased exercise to prevent obesity.PMID:38664994 | DOI:10.4274/jcrpe.galenos.2024.2024-1-3 (Source: JCRPE Journal of Clinical Research in Pediatric Endocrinology)

Puerarin Alleviates Experimental Autoimmune Thyroiditis by Regulating Macrophages
This study aimed to verify the therapeutic effect of puerarin on HT and explored its regulatory effect on macrophage polarization imbalance in HT. Through bioinformatics analysis and molecular biology methods, it was found that macrophages increased significantly in HT patients and model mice. Immunological staining showed that puerarin intervention could reduce tissue inflammatory cell infiltration. Molecular biological examination displayed that puerarin could inhibit local and systemic inflammation levels, and the expression of marker thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase Abs. In vivo experimental results indicated that ...

Macrophage-induced carboxypeptidase A4 promotes the progression of anaplastic thyroid cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that CPA4 stimulates the progression of thyroid cancer by mediating between M2 macrophages and ATC cells. CPA4 can be a new therapeutic target for the treatment of patients with ATC.PMID:38666696 | DOI:10.1089/thy.2023.0427 (Source: Thyroid : official journal of the American Thyroid Association)

Levothyroxine treatment in pregnant women with thyroid stimulating hormone levels ranging between 2.5 and 10 mIU/L: A propensity score matched analysis
CONCLUSION: LT-4 treatment was significantly associated with a lower risk of pregnancy loss and a higher risk of small-for-gestational-age infants in pregnant women with TSH levels of 2.5-10 mIU/L. An increased risk of preterm birth was observed in the LT-4-treated group among TPOAb-positive participants with TSH levels of 2.5-4.0 mIU/L.PMID:38666684 | DOI:10.1089/thy.2023.0662 (Source: Thyroid : official journal of the American Thyroid Association)

Availability of genome-matched therapy based on clinical practice
CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated the usefulness of CGP for patients with sarcoma and HNC in addition to lung cancer in clinical practice. Performing CGP at the front line has the potential to improve the availability of genome-matched therapy.PMID:38668785 | DOI:10.1007/s10147-024-02533-z (Source: Clinical Lung Cancer)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1692: The Association between Blood Test Trends and Undiagnosed Cancer: A Systematic Review and Critical Appraisal
bs Brian D. Nicholson Clinical guidelines include monitoring blood test abnormalities to identify patients at increased risk of undiagnosed cancer. Noting blood test changes over time may improve cancer risk stratification by considering a patient’s individual baseline and important changes within the normal range. We aimed to review the published literature to understand the association between blood test trends and undiagnosed cancer. MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched until 15 May 2023 for studies assessing the association between blood test trends and undiagnosed cancer. We used descriptive summaries ...

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1673: COVID-19 and Cancer Detection in Russia
In this study, we analyzed the impact of the expected reduction in screening intensity on morbidity and mortality from certain malignancies. Cumulative data from the Russian National Cancer Registry available from 2000 to 2022 were analyzed. It was noted that there has been no noticeable effect of the COVID-19 lockdowns on mortality rates from breast, prostate, renal, or thyroid cancers. At the same time, the detectable incidence decreased markedly in 2020 at the time of the lockdowns and then returned to pre-pandemic levels in 2022. At the moment, there is no sufficient reason to believe that skipping screening tests in 2...

Design and evaluation of an anthropomorphic neck phantom for improved ultrasound diagnostics of thyroid gland tumors
ConclusionsThe proposed manufacturing technology offers a reliable and cost-effective approach to produce an anthropomorphic neck phantom for ultrasound diagnosis of the thyroid gland. The realistic simulation provided by the phantom enhances the quality and accuracy of ultrasound examinations, contributing to better training for medical professionals and improved patient care. Subsequent research efforts can concentrate on refining the fabrication process and exploring additional features to enhance the phantom ’s capabilities. Predictors for Difficult Laryngeal Exposure in Suspension Laryngoscopy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: Our study made a comprehensive and systematic analysis of The DLE relevant factors. Gender, age, body mass index(BMI), neck circumference (NC), modified Mallampati's index(MMI), inter-incisor gap(IIG), hyoid-mental distance (HMD), thyroid-mental distance (TMD), sterno-mental distance (SMD), and flexion-extension angle were eventually identified as highly correlated factors for DLE.PMID:38659242 | DOI:10.21053/ceo.2023.00023 (Source: Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology)
