Identifying Risk Indicators of Cardiovascular Disease in Fasa Cohort Study (FACS): An Application of Generalized Linear Mixed-Model Tree
CONCLUSION: Given the superior performance of the GLMM tree compared with the standard tree and the lack of significant difference with the GLMM, using this model is suggested due to its simpler interpretation and fewer assumptions. Using updated statistical models for more accurate CVD prediction can result in more precise frameworks to aid in proactive patient detection planning.PMID:38690790 | DOI:10.34172/aim.2024.35 (Source: Archives of Iranian Medicine)

Thyroid abnormalities identified on CT screening for lung cancer
CONCLUSION: ITNs are detected at LDCT however, no malignancy was found. Certain predictors for ITNs in females have been identified including breast density, which may point towards a common causal pathway.PMID:38691910 | DOI:10.1016/j.clinimag.2024.110162 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Genome-wide analysis of two different regions of brain reveals the molecular changes of fertility related genes in rln3a < sup > -/- < /sup > mutants in male Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)
Gen Comp Endocrinol. 2024 Apr 29:114543. doi: 10.1016/j.ygcen.2024.114543. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRelaxin3 (rln3) has been associated with various emotional and cognitive processes, including stress, anxiety, learning, memory, motivational behavior, and circadian rhythm. Notably, previous report revealed that Rln3a played an indispensable role in testicular development and male fertility in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown. We found that Rln3a is expressed exclusively in the diencephalon* (Di*) of the brain. Deficiency of Rln3a resulted in a si...

Fibrinogen exacerbates GCase ubiquitination via ATF5-induced TRIP12 activation in Parkinson's Disease
Background: Blood-brain-barrier disruption occurs in Parkinson's disease (PD), which may be accompanied with the deposition of Fibrinogen (FG) in brain parenchyma. However, the relationship between FG and glucocerebrosidase (GCase) reduction, which may contribute to α-synuclein aggregation in PD, is under investigation. Recently, there is evidence that PD patients without GBA mutation also exhibits GCase reduction in brain, and Thyroid-Hormone-Receptor-Interactor-12 (TRIP12) was found to be a key ubiquitin enzyme of GCase degradation. Experimental rat models for Hashimoto ’s thyroiditis
ConclusionTwo rat models of autoimmune thyroiditis were obtained. EAT caused in Wistar rats by immunization with rat Tg is similar to Hashimoto ’s thyroiditis. EAT induced with porcine Tg was accompanied by oxyphil cell metaplasia in the parathyroids and hypocalcemia. (Source: Journal of Endocrinological Investigation)

Application and subgroup analysis of competing risks model based on different lymph node staging systems in differentiated thyroid cancer
This study evaluates the prognostic value of various lymph node staging systems in DTC using a competing risks model. We used SEER database records (1998 –2016) of 16,527 DTC patients, analyzing N stage, positive lymph node numbers (PLNNs), metastatic lymph node ratio (MLNR), log odds of positive lymph nodes (LODDS), and log odds of the negative lymph node (NLN)/T stage ratio (LONT). Univariate and multivariate analyses in a competing risks model w ere performed, along with subgroup analyses based on demographic and clinical characteristics. In this study of 16,527 patients with DTC, different lymph node staging systems ...
