Intracranial Artery Calcium Burden Predicts Recurrent Cerebrovascular Events in Transient Ischaemic Attack Patients
Background: Patients with initial transient ischaemic attack (TIA) subsequently have a higher risk of recurrent TIA or acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The role of scoring intracranial arterial calcification (IAC) in predicting the prevalence of stroke remains unclear. We aim to evaluate if radiological CT calcium score measuring IAC burden could predict future ischemic events in a cohort of TIA patients. Methods: We studied consecutive patients from July 2014 to December 2015 who presented with first episode of TIA.

Polyacrylic acid-coated nanoparticles loaded with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator for the treatment of mice with ischemic stroke.
Abstract Nanoparticle-based thrombolysis is a potential new treatment for stroke. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of targeted thrombolysis using recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA). The rtPA was covalently bound to magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) and maintained at the target site using an external magnet. Using Thoracic Artery Calcium Score to Predict Stroke
We are very enthused about the concept presented by Obisesan et al.1 regarding the use of thoracic artery calcium (TAC) as a predictor of stroke mortality. The logic on why aortic atherosclerosis is more closely related (to stroke mortality) than coronary artery calcification (CAC) scores is intriguing – we initially expected it to run in parallel but the explanation they give makes good sense. We also really appreciate the practicality – that it can be done easily with the data already acquired.
