Cancers, Vol. 12, Pages 3628: Differential Gemcitabine Sensitivity in Primary Human Pancreatic Cancer Cells and Paired Stellate Cells Is Driven by Heterogenous Drug Uptake and Processing
In conclusion, heterogeneity in gemcitabine processing among different pancreatic cancer cells and stellate cells results from the differential expression of molecular regulators which determines the effect of gemcitabine.

KIAA1429 promotes the progression of lung adenocarcinoma by regulating the m6A level of MUC3A.
CONCLUSION: KIAA1429 exhibited an unusually high expression in LUAD cells and tissues, and high KIAA1429 expression was correlated with the clinical and pathological features of patients with LUAD, thereby leading to an unsatisfactory prognosis. Furthermore, KIAA1429 regulates MUC3A expression through m6A modification to modulate LUAD cells to proliferate, migrate, invade, and induce cell cycle arrest. Circular RNA circCSNK1G3 induces HOXA10 signaling and promotes the growth and metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma cells through hsa-miR-143-3p sponging
ConclusionsOur data indicate that circCSNK1G3 can induce HOXA10 expression and, thereby, promote the growth and metastasis of LUAD cells through hsa-miR-143-3p sponging. As such, our data highlight the targetability of the circCSNK1G3/miR-143-3p/HOXA10 signaling axis in patients with LUAD.Graphical abstract

OTX1 is a novel regulator of proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis in lung adenocarcinoma.
CONCLUSIONS: Silencing the OTX1 gene suppressed the proliferation, migration and invasion of NCI-H292 and XWLC cells, impeded the cell cycle transition from G2 to M phase, and accelerated apoptosis, revealing OTX1, a regulator of NSCLC, as a potential new therapeutic target. Down-regulation of HOTAIR Reverses the Resistance of Gefitinib in HCC827 Cells by Increasing the Expression of PTEN
Background and Objective Lung cancer is the most common cancer worldwide with the highest morbidity and mortality, in which the non-small cell lung cancer accounts for 80% of all cases. The expression of (HOX transcript antisense RNA) HOTAIR were abnormal in a variety of tumor tissues and is involved in the regulation of the occurrence and development of lung cancer. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect and mechanism of down-regulation of HOTAIR on gefitinib resistance of lung adenocarcinoma HCC827 cells by targeting PTEN. Methods The HOTAIR downstream target gene was predicted by bioinformatics database....

Raloxifene inhibits pancreatic adenocarcinoma growth by interfering with ER β and IL-6/gp130/STAT3 signaling
ConclusionsInhibition of ER β and the IL-6/gp130/STAT3 signaling pathway by raloxifene leads to potent reduction of PDAC growth in vitro and in vivo. Our results suggest that ERβ signaling and IL-6/gp130 interaction may serve as promising drug targets for pancreatic cancer and that raloxifene may serve as an attractive ther apeutic option for PDAC patients expressing the ERβ isotype.

FAM60A promotes cisplatin resistance in lung cancer cells by activating SKP2 expression
Cisplatin is a widely used chemotherapeutic drug in lung cancer treatment. Most cancer patients eventually develop cisplatin resistance, resulting in a poor prognosis. Previously, we identified a novel marker, family with sequence similarity 60A (FAM60A), that was responsible for resistance in cisplatin-resistant human lung adenocarcinoma A549 (A549/DDP) cells. Here, we investigated the biological effects of FAM60A in A549/DDP cells and explored the underlying molecular mechanisms to understand its functional role in cisplatin resistance. Real-time quantitative PCR and western blot analysis were used to determine the expre...

Ribosomal protein S3 selectively affects colon cancer growth by modulating the levels of p53 and lactate dehydrogenase.
In this study, we aim at determining the expression levels of RPS3 in a colon cancer cell line Caco-2 compared to a normal colon mucosa cell line NCM-460 and study the effects of targeting this protein by siRNA on cellular behavior. RPS3 was found to be expressed in both cell lines. However, siRNA treatment showed a more protruding effect on Caco-2 cells compared to NCM-460 cells. RPS3 knockdown led to a significant decrease in the proliferation, survival, migration and invasion and an increase in the apoptosis of Caco-2 cells. Western blot analysis demonstrated that these effects correlated with an increase in the level o...

Prognostic significance of NAP1L1 expression in patients with early lung adenocarcinoma.
In this study, we investigated the relationship between NAP1L1 expression and the clinicopathological parameters and prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer patients. To this end, the expression of NAP1L1 in tumor samples was evaluated by immunohistochemistry. NAP1L1 expression was significantly associated with reduced differentiation (P = 0.00014), higher pathological TNM stages (P < 0.00001), lymph node metastasis (P < 0.00001), intrapulmonary metastasis (P = 0.02955), lymphatic invasion (P = 0.00019), vascular invasion (P = 0.00008) and poorer prognosis (P = 0.0008) of patients with adenocarcinoma. Moreover, multi...
