Siglec15 Checkpoint Blockade for Simultaneous Immunochemotherapy and Osteolysis Inhibition in Lung Adenocarcinoma Spinal Metastasis via a Hollow Nanoplatform
According to the high expression of Siglec15 in lung adenocarcinoma spinal metastasis (LUAD-SM), an actively targeted tumor microenvironment (TME)-responsive hollow MnO2 nanoplatform is designed for enhanced synergetic immunochemotherapy and osteolysis inhibition via downregulation of Siglec15 in both tumor cells and tumor-associated macrophages. Such a nanoplatform can provide a strategy for “killing two birds with one stone” to treat LUAD-SM. AbstractLow responsiveness to anti-programmed death-1/programmed death-ligand 1 (anti-PD-1/PD-L1) for solid tumors indicates the presence of other immunosuppressive pathways. Si...

The Expression and Effect of ABCE1 in Gastric Adenocarcinoma
Appl Biochem Biotechnol. 2022 Jun 23. doi: 10.1007/s12010-022-03986-6. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTATP-binding cassette E1 (ABCE1) is mainly related to the regulation of viral infection, cell multiplication, and anti-apoptosis. Previous reports confirmed the central role in the regulation of ABCE1 in liver and breast cancer; however, its potential role in gastric adenocarcinoma remains unclear. In our study, siRNA and plasmid were transfected to construct gastric cancer cell lines with low and overexpression of ABCE1, and Western blot, RT-qPCR, and immunohistochemical staining were used to detect ABCE1 expression levels ...

Corrigendum BMI ‑1 promotes invasion and metastasis in endometrial adenocarcinoma and is a poor prognostic factor
Oncol Rep. 2022 Aug;48(2):141. doi: 10.3892/or.2022.8352. Epub 2022 Jun 22.ABSTRACTFollowing the publication of the above paper, an interested reader drew to the authors' attention that, in Fig. 5 on p. 1637, the data panel selected to represent the 'Ishikawa/+BMI‑1 siRNA/Invasion' experiment in Fig. 5A appeared to overlap with the data shown for the 'JEC/+BMI‑1 siRNA/Migration' panel in Fig. 5C, such that they were potentially derived from the same original source. The authors have re‑examined their original data, and realize that the data panel selected for the 'Ishikawa/+BMI‑1 siRNA/Invasion' experiment in Fig. ...

Ras suppressor-1 (RSU1) exerts a tumor suppressive role with prognostic significance in lung adenocarcinoma
Clin Exp Med. 2022 Jun 21. doi: 10.1007/s10238-022-00847-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRas suppressor-1 (RSU1), originally described as a suppressor of Ras oncogenic transformation, localizes to focal adhesions interacting with the ILK-PINCH-PARVIN (IPP) complex that exerts a well-established oncogenic role in cancer. However, RSU1 implication in lung cancer is currently unknown. Our study aims to address the role of RSU1 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUADC). We here show that RSU1 protein expression by immunohistochemistry is downregulated in LUADC human tissue samples and represents a significant prognostic indicator. In si...

The RNA-Binding Protein HuR Posttranscriptionally Regulates the Protumorigenic Activator YAP1 in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma
Mol Cell Biol. 2022 Jun 15:e0001822. doi: 10.1128/mcb.00018-22. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTYes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) is indispensable for the development of mutant KRAS-driven pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). High YAP1 mRNA is a prognostic marker for worse overall survival in patient samples; however, the regulatory mechanisms that mediate its overexpression are not well understood. YAP1 genetic alterations are rare in PDAC, suggesting that its dysregulation is likely not due to genetic events. HuR is an RNA-binding protein whose inhibition impacts many cancer-associated pathways, including the "conserved ...

The loss of endothelin-2 exhibits an anticancer effect in A549 human lung adenocarcinoma cell line
This study aimed to investigate the pathophysiological functions of ET-2 in A549 human lung adenocarcinoma cells. We analyzed the expression of ET-2 mRNA in lung adenocarcinoma tissues compared to that in non-tumor lung tissues using public online databases. The function of ET-2 in A549 cells was investigated using siRNA. ET-2 mRNA level was upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma tissues, and high ET-2 level was associated with poor overall survival in patients with lung adenocarcinoma. ET-2 silencing reduced the proliferation, migration, invasion, and enhanced apoptosis in A549 cells. Mechanistically, ET-2 silencing reduced t...
