Clinical and molecular outcomes from the 5-Year natural history study of SSADH Deficiency, a model metabolic neurodevelopmental disorder
ConclusionsFindings from the SSADHD Natural History Study converge with iPSC and animal model work focused on a common disorder within our IDDRC, deepening our knowledge of the pathophysiology and longitudinal clinical course of a complex neurodevelopmental disorder. This further enables the identification of biomarkers and changes throughout development that will be essential for upcoming targeted trials of enzyme replacement and gene therapy. Performance Characteristics of a Real-Time PCR assay for Direct Detection of Streptococcus pneumoniae in Clinical Specimens
Community-acquired pneumonia and complications, such as bacteremia and meningitis due to Streptococcus pneumoniae infection, still occur in at-risk populations, despite the availability of effective vaccines. Laboratory confirmation of S. pneumoniae remains challenging despite advances in blood culture techniques and the availability of nucleic acid amplification tests. The goal of this study was to determine the performance characteristics of a molecular assay designed as a diagnostic test using primary clinical specimens for invasive pneumococcal disease. Sensors, Vol. 24, Pages 2699: Systematic Evaluation of Ultrasonic In-Line Inspection Techniques for Oil and Gas Pipeline Defects Based on Bibliometric Analysis
Zhenlin Li The global reliance on oil and gas pipelines for energy transportation is increasing. As the pioneering review in the field of ultrasonic defect detection for oil and gas pipelines based on bibliometric methods, this study employs visual analysis to identify the most influential countries, academic institutions, and journals in this domain. Through cluster analysis, it determines the primary trends, research hotspots, and future directions in this critical field. Starting from the current global industrial ultrasonic in-line inspection (ILI) detection level, this paper provides a flowchart for selecting d...

Case Report of a Hidden Intruder-Extremely Rare Presentation of Hydatidosis as a Nuchal Tumoural Mass
We report the case of a 68-year-old male patient, a zootechnic, who presented at the hospital with a tumoural mass (dimension: about 12/10 cm) located in the nuchal region. The complex approach needed consisted of surgical therapy along with histopathological confirmation of the diagnostic and antiparasitic medication, which led to a complete recovery with a low probability of recurrence. Discussion: Encounters with patients with primary soft tissue hydatidosis are exceptionally rare, but the surgeon must take into consideration this clinical diagnosis, especially for patients located in an endemic region with occupations ...
