The Efficiency and Toxicity Of Anlotinib in Combination With Docetaxel Followed by Epirubicin and Cyclophosphamide Regimen as Neoadjuvant Treatment in IIB to IIIA Triple Negative Breast Cancer: A Single-Arm, Multicenter, Open-Label, Phase II Study
CONCLUSION: The combination of anlotinib and EC-T chemotherapy demonstrated tolerable side effects in the neoadjuvant treatment of early TNBC. pCR was higher than what has been reported in previous clinical studies of chemotherapy alone. This study provides additional rationale for using anlotinib plus docetaxel-epirubicin-based chemotherapy regimen in patients with early-stage TNBCs.PMID:38670862 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2024.01.018 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

NETosis Drives Blood Pressure Elevation and Vascular Dysfunction in Hypertension
CONCLUSIONS: These observations identify a role of NETosis in the pathogenesis of hypertension. Moreover, they define an important role of EC stretch and TRPV4 as initiators of NETosis. Finally, they define a role of citrullinated histones as drivers of EC dysfunction in hypertension.PMID:38666386 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.123.323897 (Source: Circulation Research)

Prevalence of risk factors for development of cardiovascular diseases in urban and rural areas of Eastern Croatia: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: In the examined sample, the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors is generally high. Participants from rural areas are significantly more susceptible to cardiovascular risk factors than participants from urban areas.PMID:38669153 | DOI:10.21101/cejph.a7709 (Source: Central European Journal of Public Health)

Unveiling Health Inequalities: Exploring Metabolic Dysfunction in Rural Roma Communities
CONCLUSIONS: This study underscores the transition from infectious to metabolic diseases in vulnerable communities and highlights the urgency of targeted public health strategies tailored to the unique needs of rural Roma populations, aiming to mitigate health disparities and promote equitable healthcare access.PMID:38667578 | PMC:PMC11050184 | DOI:10.3390/healthcare12080816 (Source: Rural Remote Health)

Longitudinal leisure-time physical activity profiles throughout adulthood and related characteristics: a 36-year follow-up study of the older Finnish Twin Cohort
CONCLUSIONS: We found several longitudinal leisure-time physical activity profiles with unique changes in both sexes. Fewer profiles in females than in males remained or became low physically active during the 36-year follow-up. We observed that lower education, higher body mass index, and more smoking already in young adulthood were associated with low leisure-time physical activity profiles. However, the fact that several longitudinal profiles demonstrated a change in their physical activity behavior over time implies the potential for public health interventions to improve leisure-time physical activity levels.PMID:3867...

Computational model captures cardiac growth in hypertensive pregnancies and in the postpartum period
In this study, we evaluated whether this model could capture heart growth beyond normal pregnancy. After further validation of our normal pregnancy predictions, we tested our model predictions of three rat studies of hypertensive pregnancies. Next, we simulated the postpartum period and examined the impact of lactation on cardiac growth in rats. We demonstrate that our multiscale model can capture cardiac growth associated with new-onset hypertension during pregnancy and lactation status in the postpartum period. We conclude by elaborating on the potential clinical utility of our model in the future.PMID:38668702 | DOI:10....

Unravelling the role of cathepsins in cardiovascular diseases
Mol Biol Rep. 2024 Apr 26;51(1):579. doi: 10.1007/s11033-024-09518-1.ABSTRACTLysosomal cathepsins as a regulatory medium have been assessed as potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of various cardiac diseases such as abdominal aortic aneurysm, hypertension, cardiomyopathy, coronary heart disease, atherosclerosis, etc. They are ubiquitous lysosomal proteases with papain-like folded protein structures that are involved in a variety of physiological processes, such as the digestion of proteins, activation of pro-inflammatory molecules, degradation of extracellular matrix components, and maturation of peptide hormone...

Isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection with concomitant vascular aberrancy: Extremely rare cases and clinical implications
CONCLUSION: Vascular aberrancy may be a new identified risk factor for ISMAD. Even in ISMAD cases with vascular aberrancy, conservative treatment still can be used as first line therapy.PMID:38664953 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241251426 (Source: Vascular)

Cerebral Aneurysm Characteristics and Surgical Outcomes: An In-Depth Analysis of 346 Cases Operated Using Microsurgical Clipping
Cureus. 2024 Mar 26;16(3):e56933. doi: 10.7759/cureus.56933. eCollection 2024 Mar.ABSTRACTThis comprehensive study analyzes 346 surgically treated intracranial aneurysms, emphasizing the importance of understanding risk factors and prevalent characteristics in patients. Intracranial aneurysms, primarily of the saccular or berry type, significantly contribute to nontraumatic subarachnoid hemorrhages and demonstrate a rising incidence due to advances in imaging techniques. The study highlights a gender discrepancy in aneurysm occurrence and a higher prevalence in individuals over 30 years old. The research delves into variou...

Hypertension Prevalence and Control Among People With and Without HIV - United States, 2022
CONCLUSIONS: PWH were more likely to have hypertension than people without HIV. Geographic and racial disparities in hypertension prevalence and control were observed among PWH. Optimal care for PWH includes comprehensive strategies to screen for, prevent, and manage hypertension.PMID:38668635 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpae048 (Source: American Journal of Hypertension)
