Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 7890: Angelica sinensis Polysaccharide and Astragalus membranaceus Polysaccharide Accelerate Liver Regeneration by Enhanced Glycolysis via Activation of JAK2/STAT3/HK2 Pathway
an Qiao-Bo Ye The promotion of liver regeneration is crucial to avoid liver failure after hepatectomy. Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) and Astragalus membranaceus polysaccharide (AMP) have been identified as being associated with hepatoprotective effects. However, their roles and specific mechanisms in liver regeneration remain to be elucidated. In the present study, it suggested that the respective use of ASP or AMP strikingly promoted hepatocyte proliferation in vitro with a wide range of concentrations (from 12.5 μg/mL to 3200 μg/mL), and a stronger promoting effect was observed in com...

Astragalus and its formulas as a therapeutic option for fibrotic diseases: Pharmacology and mechanisms
Fibrosis is the abnormal deposition of extracellular matrix, characterized by accumulation of collagen and other extracellular matrix components, which causes organ dysfunction and even death. Despite advances in understanding fibrosis pathology and clinical management, there is no treatment for fibrosis that can prevent or reverse it, existing treatment options may lead to diarrhea, nausea, bleeding, anorexia, and liver toxicity. Thus, effective drugs are needed for fibrotic diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine has played a vital role in fibrotic diseases, accumulating evidence has demonstrated that Astragalus (Astragal...

Effects of Danggui Buxue decoction on host gut microbiota and metabolism in GK rats with type 2 diabetes
In this study, a T2DM model was established in Goto-Kakizaki (GK) rats, which were then treated with a clinical dose of DBD (4 g/kg) through tube feeding for 6 weeks. Next, we used 16S rRNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomics by liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry (LC–MS) to detect changes in the composition of the microbiota and cecal metabolic products. Our data show that DBD mediates the continuous increase in blood glucose in GK rats, improves insulin sensitivity, reduces expression of inflammatory mediators, and improves systemic oxidative stress. Moreover, DBD also improves microbial diversity (e.g., ...

Deep Fusion of Intelligent Meridian Sensing Technology and Huoluo Xiaoling Pills in the Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis
Biomed Res Int. 2022 Sep 7;2022:8043674. doi: 10.1155/2022/8043674. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTBased on the deep fusion of intelligent meridian sensing technology and Huoluo Xiaoling Pill (HXP) in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA), firstly, the effective components and targets of Salvia miltiorrhiza, Angelica sinensis, frankincense, and myrrh were obtained by using TCMSP, SwissADME, and Swisstarget databases. Similarly, relevant targets of KOA were collected through GeneCards, OMIM, TTD, PharmGKB, and DrugBank databases. Next, the potential targets of ZXP in the treatment of KOA were obtained by intersection of drug...

Sodium Ferulate Inhibits Rat Cardiomyocyte Hypertrophy Induced by Angiotensin II Through Enhancement of Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase/Nitric Oxide/Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate Signaling Pathway
In this study, myocardial hypertrophy was induced by angiotensin II 0.1 μmol/L in neonatal Sprague–Dawley rat ventricular myocytes. Nine groups were designed, that is, normal, normal administration, model, L-arginine (L-arg 1000 μmol/L), SF (50, 100, 200 μmol/L) group, and NG-nitro-L-arg-methyl ester 1500 μmol/L combined with SF 200 μmol/L or L-arg 1000 μmol/L group, respectively. Cardiomyocyte hypertrophy was confirmed by observing histological changes and measurements of cell diameter, protein content and atrial natriuretic factor, and β-myosin heavy chain levels of the cells. Notably, SF could inhibit significa...
