J Microbiol Biotechnol. 2023 Jan 6;33(6):1-17. doi: 10.4014/jmb.2206.06010. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn the current study we assessed a new crystallized compound, 5-(1-hydroxybutyl)-4-methoxy-3- methyl-2H-pyran-2-one (C-HMMP), from the endophytic fungus Colletotrichum acutatum residing in the medicinal plant Angelica sinensis for its in vitro antimicrobial, antibiofilm, antioxidant, antimalarial, and anti-proliferative properties. The promising compound was identified as C-HMMP through antimicrobial-guided fraction. The structure of C-HMMP was unambiguously confirmed by 2D NMR and HIRS spectroscopic analysis. Antimicr...

Comparative-genomic analysis reveals dynamic NLR gene loss and gain across Apiaceae species
In this study, comparative genomic analysis was performed in four Apiaceae species to trace the dynamic evolutionary patterns of NLR genes during speciation in this family. Results: The results revealed different number of NLR genes in these four Apiaceae species, namely, Angelica sinensis (95), Coriandrum sativum (183), Apium graveolens (153) and Daucus carota (149). Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that NLR genes in these four species were derived from 183 ancestral NLR lineages and experienced different levels of gene-loss and gain events. The contraction pattern of the ancestral NLR lineages was discovered during the ...

Morphology, Solid Structure and Antioxidant Activity in Vitro of Angelica sinensis Polysaccharide-Ce(IV)
Chem Biodivers. 2023 Feb 15:e202200813. doi: 10.1002/cbdv.202200813. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAngelica Sinensis polysaccharide cerium (ASP-Ce) was prepared by Angelica Sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) and cerium ammonium nitrate (NH4 )2 Ce(NO3 )6 . and its morphology, and solid structure was investigated. The antioxidant activity of the ASP-Ce complex in vitro was evaluated. The antioxidant activity of ASP-Ce complex in vitro was evaluated by the scavenging activity of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhyrazyl radical (DPPH), hydroxyl radical (⋅OH) and superoxide anion radical ( O 2 - ${{{\rm O}}_{2}^{-}}$ ⋅). The results show...

Elucidating the promising role of traditional Chinese medicine in neuroprotection against oxidative stress encompassing Alzheimer's disease
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Feb 15. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-25800-4. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMedicinal plants are being used from time immemorial for their therapeutic benefits and have immense value in the therapy of neurodegenerative disorders. One of the most important neurological disorders is Alzheimer's disease (AD) which is a major contributor to dementia and is accompanied by abundant oxidative stress in the brain tissue. A critical pathway to target the increased oxidative stress is to administer agents with antioxidant potential. Despite currently available clinical treatments to treat AD such as choli...

High-efficiency degradation catalytic performance of a novel Angelica sinensis polysaccharide-silver nanomaterial for dyes by ultrasonic cavitation
Ultrason Sonochem. 2023 Jan 5;93:106289. doi: 10.1016/j.ultsonch.2023.106289. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCurrently, the polluted wastewater discharged by industry accounts for the major part of polluted bodies of water. As one of the industrial wastewaters, dye wastewater is characterized by high toxicity, wide pollution, and difficulty in decolorization degradation. In this paper, a novel composite nanomaterial catalyst of silver was prepared by using Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) as a reducing and stabilizing agent. And the optimum reaction conditions explored are VAgNO3 = 5 mL (300 mM) and vASP = 7% (w/v) fo...

In situ analysis of volatile oil in Angelica sinensis roots by fluorescence imaging combined with mass spectrometry imaging
In this study, the spatial distribution and accumulation dynamics of volatile oil in Angelica sinensis roots was realized by fluorescence imaging combined with mass spectrometry imaging. The laser scanning confocal microscopy was used to determine the optimal excitation wavelength and the fluorescent stability of volatile oil in the sections of Angelica sinensis roots. The results demonstrated that 488 nm was the most suitable excitation wavelength for the identification and quantitative analysis of volatile oil. It was observed that volatile oil accumulated in the oil chamber of the phelloderm and secondary phloem, and th...
