Cancers, Vol. 14, Pages 5888: CT-Based Radiomic Analysis for Preoperative Prediction of Tumor Invasiveness in Lung Adenocarcinoma Presenting as Pure Ground-Glass Nodule
ei Lin Jin-Shing Chen It remains a challenge to preoperatively forecast whether lung pure ground-glass nodules (pGGNs) have invasive components. We aimed to construct a radiomic model using tumor characteristics to predict the histologic subtype associated with pGGNs. We retrospectively reviewed clinicopathologic features of pGGNs resected in 338 patients with lung adenocarcinoma between 2011–2016 at a single institution. A radiomic prediction model based on forward sequential selection and logistic regression was constructed to differentiate adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS)/minimally invasive adenocarcinom...

[18F]FluorThanatrace ([18F]FTT) PET Imaging of PARP-inhibitor Drug-Target Engagement as a Biomarker of Response in Ovarian Cancer, a pilot study
CONCLUSIONS: The decline in [18F]FTT uptake shortly after PARPi initiation provides a measure of drug-target engagement and shows promise as a biomarker to guide PARPi therapies in this pilot study. These results support additional pre-clinical mechanistic and clinical studies in subjects receiving PARPi +/- combination therapy.PMID:36441795 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-22-1602 (Source: Clinical Cancer Research)

Contribution of Body Mass Index Stratification for the Prediction of Maximal Oxygen Uptake
Int J Med Sci. 2022 Oct 31;19(13):1929-1941. doi: 10.7150/ijms.77818. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to investigate whether modeling within separate body mass index (BMI) stratifications improves the accuracy of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) prediction compared to a model developed regardless of adults' BMIs. A total of 250 Taiwanese adults (total group, TOG) aged 22-64 years participated in this study, and were stratified into a normal group (NOG: 135), an overweight group (OVG: 69), and an obesity group (OBG: 46), according to the BMI classification recommended by the Taiwan Ministry of Health an...

NCAPG deregulation indicates poor patient survival and contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis
Pathol Res Pract. 2022 Nov 22;241:154238. doi: 10.1016/j.prp.2022.154238. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTColorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the types of cancers with a high incidence and is ranked the 3rd among men and 2nd among women worldwide. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between non-SMC condensin I complex subunit G (NCAPG) and the prognosis of CRC and its function in CRC cells. The expression of NCAPG in colorectal tissues and cells was detected by immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to analyze the correlation between NCAPG and CRC prognosis. RNAi techno...

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 15848: The Relationship between Emotion Regulation (ER) and Problematic Smartphone Use (PSU): A Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses
shah Che Roos Emotion Dysregulation (ED) and Problematic Smartphone Use (PSU) are two rising global issues requiring further understanding on how they are linked. This paper aims to summarize the evidence pertaining to this relationship. Five databases were systematically searched for published literature from inception until 29 March 2021 using appropriate search strategies. Each study was screened for eligibility based on the set criteria, assessed for its quality and its level of evidence was determined. The Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software program (CMA) was employed to run further analyses of the data. Twenty-o...

Antigenicity and immunogenicity of chikungunya virus-like particles from mosquito cells
Appl Microbiol Biotechnol. 2022 Nov 25. doi: 10.1007/s00253-022-12280-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe spread of chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is reaching pandemic levels, and vaccines and antivirals to control CHIKV infection have yet to be approved. Virus-like particles (VLPs), a self-assembled native multi-subunit protein structure, could potentially be used as an antigen for serological detection and vaccine development. In the current study, we describe the production of novel CHIKV VLPs from mosquitoes using a Baculovirus/Mosquito (BacMos) system in a simple Biosafety Level-2 laboratory. Substantial envelope and caps...

Is there a role for lung surgery in initially unresectable non-small cell lung cancer after tyrosine kinase inhibitor treatment?
CONCLUSION: Lung surgery after TKI treatment is feasible and safe and prolongs survival via local control and directed consequential therapy. Lung surgery should be adopted in multimodality therapy for initially unresectable NSCLC.PMID:36434641 | DOI:10.1186/s12957-022-02833-6 (Source: Cancer Control)

G αq Is the Specific Mediator of PAR-1 Transactivation of Kinase Receptors in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells
Int J Mol Sci. 2022 Nov 20;23(22):14425. doi: 10.3390/ijms232214425.ABSTRACTAIMS: G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) transactivation of kinase receptors greatly expands the actions attributable to GPCRs. Thrombin, via its cognate GPCR, protease-activated receptor (PAR)-1, transactivates tyrosine and serine/threonine kinase receptors, specifically the epidermal growth factor receptor and transforming growth factor-β receptor, respectively. PAR-1 transactivation-dependent signalling leads to the modification of lipid-binding proteoglycans involved in the retention of lipids and the development of atherosclerosis. The mechani...

Fear of falling as a potential complication of Ramsay Hunt syndrome in older adults: a case report
CONCLUSIONS: RHS may cause repeated falls and FOF, leading to impairment in daily activities and psychosocial function in older adults. Therefore, clinicians should be mindful of falls and FOF when caring for older patients with RHS and should develop multidimensional strategies for fall prevention and FOF.PMID:36434527 | DOI:10.1186/s12877-022-03606-2 (Source: Herpes)
