Acute cervical epidural abscess with concurrent calcium pyrophosphate deposition after cervical spinal surgery: A case report
CONCLUSION: An acute onset of SEA complicated with CPPD after cervical surgery has rarely been reported. The suppurative inflammation fostered by the crystal-induced inflammation may account for the acute symptomatology.PMID:38628534 | PMC:PMC11021091 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_740_2023 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)

Angiogenesis-related immune response may be the prelude to the syndesmophyte formation in Ankylosing spondylitis
CONCLUSIONS: We explored the intimate relationship between local inflammation and bone formation in AS from the perspective of nascent vascularisation. Hence, our study lays the foundation for elucidating a unified AS pathogenesis through the immune-angiogenesis-osteogenesis axis.PMID:38631220 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2024.112040 (Source: International Immunopharmacology)

Use of risk chart algorithms for the identification of psoriatic arthritis patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease: findings derived from the project CARMA cohort after a 7.5-year follow-up period
CONCLUSIONS: Risk chart algorithms are very useful for discriminating PsA at low and high CV risk. An integrated model featuring QRISK3 and SCORE2 yielded the optimal synergy of QRISK3's discrimination ability and SCORE2's calibration accuracy.PMID:38631846 | DOI:10.1136/rmdopen-2024-004207 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

β-Indole-3-acetic acid attenuated collagen-induced arthritis through reducing the ubiquitination of Foxp3 via the AhR-TAZ-Tip60 pathway
In this study, the collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rat model was established. Based on metabolomics analysis, the contents of β-indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), indolylpropionic acid, and indole-3-β-acrylic acid in the sera of CIA rats were significantly less compared with those of the normal rats. Under the condition of Treg or Th17 cell differentiation, IAA significantly promoted the differentiation and activation of Treg cells instead of Th17 cells. Intestinal tryptophan metabolites are well-known endogenic ligands of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR). Not surprisingly, IAA increased the level of Foxp3 through activating th...

Phosphatidic Acid Promoting the Generation of Interleukin ‐17A Producing Double‐Negative T Cells by Enhancing mTORC1 Signaling in Lupus
ConclusionThe accumulation of PA in T cells could activate the mTORC1 pathway, promoting DNT cell expansion and IL-17A secretion, resulting in GCB cell abnormalities in lupus. (Source: Arthritis and Rheumatology)

Drug Survival of IL-17 and IL-23 Inhibitors for Psoriasis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionsThis meta-analysis showed that the investigated IL-17 and IL-23 inhibitors had high drug survival rates, with highest rates for guselkumab and risankizumab drug survival. We showed that effect modifiers such as biologic naivety, and the source of data used (registry/electronic health record data vs pharmacy/claims databases) is relevant when interpreting drug survival studies. Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 1830: Onosma bracteatum Wall Aqueous & ndash;Ethanolic Extract Suppresses Complete Freund & rsquo;s Adjuvant-Induced Arthritis in Rats via Regulation of TNF- & alpha;, IL-6, and C-Reactive Protein
This study aimed to evaluate the anti-arthritic effects of the aqueous–ethanolic extract of O. bracteatum leaves (AeOB) in a rat model of complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA)-induced arthritis. Rats were treated with AeOB (250, 500, and 750 mg/kg), indomethacin (10 mg/kg), or a vehicle control from days 8 to 28 post-CFA injection. Arthritic score, paw diameter, and body weight were monitored at regular intervals. X-ray radiographs and histopathological analysis were performed to assess arthritic severity. Inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6),...

Population Pharmacokinetics of Adalimumab in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Study Using Clinical Care Data
ConclusionsFive literature models effectively described adalimumab PK in this pediatric cohort, highlighting the potential for extrapolating existing models to the pediatric population. The new JIA model confirmed the effect of several known covariates and found a novel association for drug clearance with methotrexate use (lower) and uveitis (higher), which might have clinical relevance for personalized dosing in JIA. Efficacy and safety of tofacitinib for chronic plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
ConclusionsA comprehensive analysis revealed that tofacitinib has a positive effect on addressing skin and joint symptoms, as well as improving the quality of life for patients with chronic plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (PsA). However, the safety of the drug ’s long-term usage even requires further validation.Key Points• In 6 analyses involving a total of 1393 patients, tofacitinib exhibits positive effect on the treatment of both chronic plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (PsA).• Although dose-based subgroup analyses have demonstrated effectiveness. Some studies indicate that the 5-mg dose (twice da...
