Association of pathological response with long-term survival outcomes after neoadjuvant immunotherapy: A meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Our meta-analysis demonstrates a strong association between pathological response and long-term survival outcomes at patient level across studies applying neoadjuvant immunotherapy in most solid tumors but we fail to validate the relationship at trial level. Therefore, an accepted surrogate endpoint applied to both patient and trial levels are waited for further search.PMID:38685176 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2024.112078 (Source: International Immunopharmacology)

The immune cells in modulating osteoclast formation and bone metabolism
Int Immunopharmacol. 2024 Apr 28;133:112151. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2024.112151. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOsteoclasts are pivotal in regulating bone metabolism, with immune cells significantly influencing both physiological and pathological processes by modulating osteoclast functions. This is particularly evident in conditions of inflammatory bone resorption, such as rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis. This review summarizes and comprehensively analyzes the research progress on the regulation of osteoclast formation by immune cells, aiming to unveil the underlying mechanisms and pathways through which diseases, su...

Early response to Tezepelumab in type-2 severe asthma patients non-responders to other biological treatments: a real-life study
CONCLUSION. In real-world scenarios, despite the study's limitations, our results underscore Tezepelumab's promise as a therapeutic option for uncontrolled severe asthma, and may be useful for non-responders to other mAbs. Further studies are needed to corroborate these findings.PMID:38686823 | DOI:10.1080/02770903.2024.2349605 (Source: Journal of Asthma)

FG-4592 protected haematopoietic system from ionising radiation in mice
Immunology. 2024 Apr 29. doi: 10.1111/imm.13797. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIonising radiation exposure can lead to acute haematopoietic radiation syndrome. Despite significant advancements in the field of radioprotection, no drugs with high efficacy and low toxicity have yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. FG-4592, as a proline hydroxylase inhibitor, may play an important role in radioprotection of the haematopoietic system. Mice were peritoneal injected with FG-4592 or normal saline. After irradiation, the survival time, body weight, peripheral blood cell and bone marrow cell (BMC) count, cell apopt...

A novel immune ‑related lncRNA as a prognostic biomarker in HER2 < sup > + < /sup > breast cancer
Oncol Lett. 2024 Apr 16;27(6):269. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14402. eCollection 2024 Jun.ABSTRACTHuman epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)+ breast cancer is characterized by high malignancy and poor prognosis. Long non-coding (lnc)RNAs are crucial in breast cancer progression and prognosis, especially in tumor-associated immune processes. The present study aimed to elucidate novel lncRNAs related to immune function that could serve as biomarkers for both diagnosis and prognosis of this cancer subtype. Using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas and The Immunology Database and Analysis Portal, correlation analysis was performe...

Factors Influencing Iatrogenic Skin Injury in Neonates and Nursing Strategies
CONCLUSION: Length of stay, orotracheal intubation use, and gastric tube use are independent risk factors for iatrogenic skin injury in neonates. Hospital stays and unnecessary use of orotracheal intubation and gastric tube should be reduced in future clinical management. Attention should be paid to strengthening skin observation and care, keeping skin dry and clean, and preventing iatrogenic skin injury.PMID:38687850 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Pharmacological and Therapeutic Potential of Berbamine: A Potent Alkaloid from Genus Berberis
Curr Top Med Chem. 2024 Apr 29. doi: 10.2174/0115680266289292240420062705. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBerbamine (Ber) is an active medicinal bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid, which is usually obtained from different plants of the genus Berberis (family Berberidaceae) and is used to cure various disorders in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic systems of medicine. Numerous in-vitro and in-vivo studies revealed the apoptotic and cytotoxic potential of Ber against different cell lines (SMMC-7721, A549, MDA-MB-231, and K562) by upregulating pro-apoptotic (Bax, p53) and downregulating anti-apoptotic (Bcl-2, survivin) proteins.
