Research progress of vitiligo repigmentation: from oxidative stress to autoimmunity
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2024 Apr 28;70(4):147-151. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2024.70.4.23.ABSTRACTVitiligo belongs to a frequent chronic autoimmune skin disease with the features of pigmented plaques on the diseased skin along with potential damage of melanocytes. There are many factors underlying the pathogenesis of vitiligo, among which oxidative stress is extensively regarded to be the critical factor leading to the loss of melanocytes. The changed redox state resulting from oxidative stress, containing ROS overproduction along with the reduced activity of the skin's antioxidant system, makes melanocytes less resistant ...

Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) ameliorates disease in a murine model of anti-laminin 332 mucous membrane pemphigoid
Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) is used to treat mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP), although its therapeutic effectivity is not sufficiently supported by randomized controlled clinical trials and its mode of action is only insufficiently understood. We have examined the effect of IVIg in a mouse model of anti-laminin 332 MMP and found that IVIg ameliorates both cutaneous and mucosal inflammatory lesions. Our investigation into the modes of action of IVIg in MMP indicated effective antiinflammatory mechanisms beyond the enhanced degradation of IgG mediated through inhibition of the neonatal Fc receptor. The relationship between religious affiliation and menopause symptoms and attitudes in United States women
Menopause a is key phase in female reproductive health and can result in bothersome symptoms. Natural menopause is defined as the permanent cessation of menstruation due to the loss of follicular activity in the ovaries, typically between the ages of 45 and 58  years [1]. Hot flashes and difficulty sleeping are commonly reported symptoms, and sexual dysfunction is a commonly reported diagnosis by women in this age group [2]. Hot flashes last an average of 7 years after natural menopause, but in some cases longer, and are characterized by a transient r ise in skin temperature and heart rate [2]. (Source: Maturitas)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1725: C-Reactive Protein Is a Potential Prognostic Marker in Patient with Advanced or Metastatic Urothelial Carcinoma Treated with Enfortumab Vedotin: A Multi-Center Retrospective Study
Conclusions: Our study provides real-world data showing that enfortumab vedotin prolonged survival in Asian patients similar to the EV-301 trial. Additionally, the C-reactive protein level might be considered a prognostic marker of enfortumab vedotin therapy in such patients. (Source: Cancers)

The crystallization properties of antifreeze GelMA hydrogel and its application in cryopreservation of tissue ‐engineered skin constructs
AbstractGelatin methacrylate (GelMA) hydrogels are expected to be ideal skin tissue engineering dressings for a wide range of clinical treatments. Herein, we report the preparation of GelMA or antifreeze GelMA hydrogel sheets with different GelMA concentrations, crosslinking times, and cryoprotectant (CPA) concentrations. The crystallization properties of GelMA or antifreeze GelMA hydrogel sheets were studied by cryomicroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It was found that the growth of ice crystals was slower when GelMA hydrogel concentration was more than 7%. The 10% DMSO-7% GelMA hydrogel sheets crosslin...

The Effect of Preprocedural Low-Dose Ketamine for Pain and Anxiety in Patients during Thoracic Epidural Catheterization
Conclusions: A preprocedural LDK (0.15 mg/kg) can effectively prevent anxiety and pain experienced by patients during the TEC procedure. Administration of LDK may provide a more comfortable procedure process without causing ketamine-induced side effects (hemodynamic, respiratory, and psychological).PMID:38674325 | PMC:PMC11052147 | DOI:10.3390/medicina60040679 (Source: Medicina (Kaunas))

Exosomes and Signaling Nanovesicles from the Nanofiltration of Preconditioned Adipose Tissue with Skin-B < sup > ® < /sup > in Tissue Regeneration and Antiaging: A Clinical Study and Case Report
Conclusions: This retrospective clinical evaluation study allowed us to consider the results obtained with this method for the treatment of dermal wrinkles and facial tissue furrows as excellent. The method is safe and an innovative regenerative therapy as a powerful and viable alternative to skin regeneration therapies, antiaging therapies, and chronic inflammatory diseases because it lacks the inflammatory component produced by cellular debris and fibrous sprouts and because it can exclude the mesenchymal cellular component by reducing multiple inflammatory cytokine levels.PMID:38674316 | PMC:PMC11051917 | DOI:10.3390/me...
