Epidermoid Cyst of the Maxillary Sinus: A Case Report and Literature Review
We describe a rare case of an epidermoid cyst arising in the right maxillary sinus. A 29-year-old man with a known diagnosis of Marfan syndrome presented with progressive swelling and tenderness in the right buccal region, mimicking facial cellulitis, and refractory to medical treatment. Computed tomography scan showed a cystic lesion extending widely into the right maxillary sinus. The cyst was successfully removed with a medial maxillectomy through inferior antrostomy approach under general anesthesia. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of an epidermoid cyst, showing a cystic wall lined with a thin layer of...

A Pharmacovigilance Study of adverse events associated with polymyxins based on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration adverse event reporting system (FAERS) database
CONCLUSIONS: Patients treated with colistin displayed a higher potential risk of nephrotoxicity but a lower risk of neurotoxicity when compared to those treated with PMB. Clinicians should be vigilant in monitoring the AEs of hyperpigmentation disorders induced by PMB, as there have been reported cases associated with its use, whereas no instances of this AE were reported among colistin-treated patients. Nevertheless, further research, especially with larger sample sizes, is imperative to validate these findings.PMID:38676603 | DOI:10.1080/14740338.2024.2348610 (Source: Expert Opinion on Drug Safety)

Ethnobotanical Significance, Phytopharmacology, and Toxicological Profile of Limonia acidissima L. (Rutaceae): A Review
Comb Chem High Throughput Screen. 2024 Apr 25. doi: 10.2174/0113862073285538240417051928. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMedicinal plants play a crucial role in traditional medicine, where they are extensively employed by traditional physicians for treating a wide array of ailments. Limonia acidissima (Linn), commonly known as the Wood apple and belonging to the Rutaceae family, is widely cultivated in countries, such as Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka. The various parts of Limonia acidissima, including its roots, leaves, fruits, stem, and even the whole plant, have been traditionally used in the treatment of numerous condit...

Decellularized periosteum and sodium alginate-based photoresponsive dressing with copper selenide nanoparticles for infected-wound healing in diabetic mice
Int J Biol Macromol. 2024 Apr 25:131895. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2024.131895. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiabetes-related skin ulcers are of significant clinical concern. Although conventional dressings have been developed, their outcomes have not been adequate, indicating the need to investigate functional dressings for the treatment of diabetic ulcers. Copper selenide nanoparticles (Cu2Se NPs) demonstrate outstanding photoresponsiveness, which is critical to the healing process. However, their limited solubility in water restricts their application. To synthesize the ODT-PMMA@Cu2Se NP-doped decellularized periosteumâ€...

Pityriasis lichenoides: assessment of 41 pediatric patients
CONCLUSIONS: The clinical form most commonly found was PLC mainly in schoolchildren and adolescents. The frequency peaks coincided with infectious outbreaks. The remission rate was satisfactory with antibiotic therapy, but higher with phototherapy. Remission was greater in patients with disease onset after 5 years of age.PMID:38677323 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2024.03.011 (Source: Jornal de Pediatria)

The Effect of Preprocedural Low-Dose Ketamine for Pain and Anxiety in Patients during Thoracic Epidural Catheterization
Conclusions: A preprocedural LDK (0.15 mg/kg) can effectively prevent anxiety and pain experienced by patients during the TEC procedure. Administration of LDK may provide a more comfortable procedure process without causing ketamine-induced side effects (hemodynamic, respiratory, and psychological).PMID:38674325 | PMC:PMC11052147 | DOI:10.3390/medicina60040679 (Source: Medicina (Kaunas))

Exosomes and Signaling Nanovesicles from the Nanofiltration of Preconditioned Adipose Tissue with Skin-B < sup > ® < /sup > in Tissue Regeneration and Antiaging: A Clinical Study and Case Report
Conclusions: This retrospective clinical evaluation study allowed us to consider the results obtained with this method for the treatment of dermal wrinkles and facial tissue furrows as excellent. The method is safe and an innovative regenerative therapy as a powerful and viable alternative to skin regeneration therapies, antiaging therapies, and chronic inflammatory diseases because it lacks the inflammatory component produced by cellular debris and fibrous sprouts and because it can exclude the mesenchymal cellular component by reducing multiple inflammatory cytokine levels.PMID:38674316 | PMC:PMC11051917 | DOI:10.3390/me...
