Late Breaking Abstract - DCLK1 mediates thrombin-induced IL-8/CXCL8 expression in lung epithelial cells
Airway neutrophilia has been known correlated with asthma severity. Thrombin plays a crucial role in asthma. Thrombin can induce IL-8/CXCL8 expression, a potent chemoattractant for neutrophils, in lung epithelial cells. Doublecortin-like kinase 1 (DCLK1) is a protein kinase that has been identified as a tumor stem cell marker in colon and pancreatic cancer. Here we investigated the role of DCLK1 in thrombin-induced IL-8/CXCL8 expression in human lung epithelial cells. Distinct inhibitory efficiency of siRNAs and DNAzymes to β1 integrin subunit in blocking tumor growth.
In this study, we compared inhibitory efficiencies of siRNA and DNAzymes against the β1 integrin subunit (DEβ1), in a mouse xenograft model. Both inhibitors were used under their most favorable conditions, in terms of concentrations, incubation time and lack of cytotoxic effects. Polyamine and methionine adenosyltransferase 2A crosstalk in human colon and liver cancer.
In conclusion, there is a crosstalk between polyamines and MAT2A. Increased MAT2A expression provides more SAMe for polyamines biosynthesis; increased polyamine (putrescine in this case) can activate MAT2A at the transcriptional level. Reduced migration of MLH1 deficient colon cancer cells depends on SPTAN1
Conclusions: These data suggest that SPTAN1 levels decreased in concordance with MLH1 reduction and impaired cellular mobility in MLH1 deficient colon cancer cells. Therefore, aggressiveness of MLH1-positive CRC might be related to SPTAN1.

PPARδ deficiency disrupts hypoxia‐mediated tumorigenic potential of colon cancer cells
Peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor (PPAR) δ is highly expressed in colon epithelial cells and closely linked to colon carcinogenesis. A novel inflammatory regulator TIPE2 inhibits TLR4-mediated development of colon cancer via caspase-8.
