Validation of a 16th Century Traditional Chinese Medicine Use of Ginkgo biloba as a Topical Antimicrobial
This study aimed to examine the traditional use of Ginkgo seeds as topical treatment for skin disorders for potential antibacterial efficacy. This is the first study to test and compare the antibacterial activity of various Ginkgo seed extracts on skin pathogens. In this work, we confirmed the ethnomedicinal importance of seeds in the treatment of skin diseases. Dietary Vitamin D3 Deficiency Increases Resistance to Leishmania (Leishmania) amazonensis Infection in Mice
Conclusion Altogether, our results indicate that dietary VitD deficiency is able to decrease lesion growth and provide an increase in Th1 response in C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice upon L. (L.) amazonensis infection, although it does not decrease parasite burden in either of the murine models used. Thus, VitD may contribute to host susceptibility to murine tegumentary leishmaniasis. Further studies on the influence of immunonutrition in the leishmaniases are needed to better understand the immunobiology of these diseases. Fungal extracts stimulate solitary chemosensory cell expansion in noninvasive fungal rhinosinusitis
ConclusionAlthough fungal antigens are known to potentiate immune response through innate cytokines, including IL ‐25, the early expansion of SCCs in the presence of fungus has not been described. This early event in the pathogenesis of noninvasive fungal rhinosinusitis may represent a target for intervention.

Spectrum of pulmonary aspergillosis in Hyper IgE syndrome with autosomal dominant STAT3 deficiency
ConclusionChronic and allergic forms of aspergillosis occurred in 17.5% of STAT3 deficient patients, mostly in lung cavities. Almost half had recurrences, despite prolonged antifungal treatment and/or surgery.

Mold Sensitization in Asthmatic and Non-asthmatic Subjects Diagnosed with Extract-Based Versus Component-Based Allergens.
In conclusion, individual fungal sensitization rate was higher in asthmatics compared to non-asthmatics. Extract-based tests, especially SPTs, were most sensitive, but component-based tests covered 80% of extract-based serological sensitization to Alternaria and Aspergillus. Specific IgE Assay for Respiratory Allergens in Patients with Atopy in Ahvaz, Iran.

Allergic Sensitization Is Associated with Decreased Risk of ED Visits and Hospitalizations for Pain in Sickle Cell Disease
Conclusions: In a population of children with SCD, allergic sensitization was associated with decreased risk of ED visits (total, for pain, and for fever). The mechanism for an association between atopy and a less severe phenotype of SCD is unclear. These findings point to potential differences in immunologic endotype/phenotype and add support to the hypothesis that lower airway disease in children with SCD has a different mechanism than typical childhood atopic asthma.
