Environmental Justice and Health in Nigeria
AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) identified 17 goals to achieve by the year 2030, with many of these goals directly or indirectly linked to environmental justice. Health outcomes remain poor in Nigeria; the country ranks low in environmental quality despite supporting environmental treaties and laws. The burden of diseases in the country is in part related to poor environmental quality and is linked to environmental justice issues, such as mining, energy exploration, transport emission, poor waste management, and proliferation of slum settlement.Recent FindingsPrevious studie...

Activities of daily living, self-efficacy and motor skill related fitness and the interrelation in children with moderate and severe Developmental Coordination Disorder
ConclusionsChildren with DCD participate and enjoy physical activity less than their peers. This combination of lower participation, lower predilection to physical activity and lowered motor skill-related fitness is a concern for the present and future health status of children with DCD. Unsatisfactory response to acute medications does not affect the medication overuse headache development in pediatric chronic migraine
ConclusionsDespite the high prevalence of unresponsiveness to acute therapies in pediatric CM, it does not act as a protective factor for MOH. Moreover, responsiveness to acute drugs is improved by pharmacological preventive treatment and it is not affected by concomitant psychiatric comorbidities. (Source: The Journal of Headache and Pain)

Associations of the obesity gene FTO variant with complications and comorbidities in patients with type 1 diabetes
The increasing prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity is a severe health problem worldwide that contributes to the development of various comorbidities [1]. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients are especially vulnerable to such complications since the intensive insulin therapy is associated with weight gain, abdominal obesity, dyslipidaemia, hypertension, and the presence of atherosclerosis development features in imaging [2]. Although clinical factors associated with the disease and its treatment as well as lifestyle elements have been widely studied, various genetic loci are also known to play important role in the obe...

Is trauma research neglecting neurodiverse populations? A systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence ACEs in adults with autistic traits
Elanor Webb, Benedetta Lupattelli Gencarelli, Grace Keaveney, Deborah Morris Advances in Autism, Vol. ahead-of-print, No. ahead-of-print, pp.- The prevalence of exposure to adversity is elevated in autistic populations, compared to neurotypical peers. Despite this, the frequency and nature of early adverse experiences are not well understood in autistic adults, with several underlying methodological limitations in the available literature. The purpose of this study is to systematically synthesise and analyse the prevalence of childhood adversity in this marginalised population, in accordance with the adverse childhood exp...

Vigilance Needed in Treating a Child with Disseminated TB: A Case Report
CONCLUSION: The diagnosis of tuberculosis in children is difficult because of the mild, nonspe-cific clinical presentation, which usually reflects the implicated underlying organ. In addition to prompt diagnosis and treatment of disseminated TB, careful monitoring is equally important.PMID:38644704 | DOI:10.2174/0118715265287146240405075930 (Source: Infectious Disorders Drug Targets)
