Child Psych or Child Neuro/NDD for Neurodevelopmental Disorders?
I am an MS3, really interested in working with kid’s with developmental disabilities and cannot decide whether I want to do it through psych or Neuro (possibly NDD program) Child Psych: residency has better work life. Will also be certified to do adult psych if I wanted to work with adults too. Nice continuity of care. I worry I will miss doing ~physical~ medicine and primary care. Really get to help with behavioral/coping skills Child neuro: much harder residency from what I have heard... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ohio State vs Hofstra
Hi everyone! I'm from Philadelphia and went to school in Baltimore. I'm interested in child neuro/developmental behavioral peds/neurodevelopmental disabilities. I'd like to eventually settle (and match if possible) in the DMV area. Ohio State Pros prestige/established/well known highly ranked in child neuro research opportunities could be cheaper after first year due to in-state tuition (if approved) $56,001 Out-of-state $31,081 In-state strong college... MS in human development to PsyD / Mid-level
Hello, I'm looking at programs for someone who graduated a long time ago and is now interested in clinical psychology, specifically child and adolescent practice. We found a 3 year PsyD program at Radford that is only open to MS (counseling) graduates, but would still need to try to transfer credits to a second MS in counseling via that route (I think). Are there other funded PsyD programs along this vein, or MS programs that may accept credits from their human development degree? They... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Child development book
Hi all, Any recommendations on a book about child development? I’m asking as a soon to be new parent and am looking for something that would compliment knowledge we’ve learned in psychiatry training (though I’m not child trained). Side question: My mother in law once said that my spouse and I couldn’t both be psychiatrists “because then we’d have weird kids.” It seems to me like psychiatrists would make great parents, but wonder what the Brain Trust’s opinions are. White noise machines?
Are you guys aware of literature on these? I tried to look but couldn’t find much. Are they recommended for infants/babies? I see they are very popular these days but worry about the child becoming reliant on them or effects on ear development if they’re on all night. Any thoughts on these? Thx (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Preparing for graduate school- help
Hi everyone, I've made this account because I'm in need of advice. I'm an undergraduate psychology (BA) major in TX and I'm to graduate in December. My goal is to go to grad school in a few years, my interests are developmental/child psychology and counseling psychology. I currently do not have research experience besides taking two research courses and doing presentations over journal articles and using SPSS. I'm also a student officer in a psychology club for the past year. I also have... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PhD Program Research Lab in Conjunction to specialty?
Hello, I wanted to specialize in clinical Neuropsychology and become a Neuropsychology researcher for a career goal. However, the laboratory I am admitted to studies children mental health and brain development (aka impact of trauma and abuse on brain structure and function in developing children). My question is: How often does it happen where the graduate student's lab is not very related to their clinical aspirations? for example, this program I am talking about has rich opportunities...
