Immunohistochemical characterization of the anti-M üllerian hormone receptor type 2 (AMHR-2) in human testes
ConclusionsIn specimens from both healthy and affected testes, AMHR-2 expression appears weaker in adult than in prepubertal tissue sections. The persistence of AMHR-2 expression seemingly hints at a possible effect of intratesticular AMH on the tubular walls. (Source: Endocrine)

Hypogonadism and Cryptorchidism
Congenital cryptorchidism (undescended testis) is one of the most common congenital urogenital malformations in boys. Prevalence of cryptorchidism at birth among boys born with normal birth weight ranges from 1.8 to 8.4%. Cryptorchidism is associated with a risk of low semen quality and an increased risk of testicular germ cell tumors. Testicular hormones, androgens and insulin-like peptide 3 (INSL3), have an essential role in the process of testicular descent from intra-abdominal position into the scrotum in fetal life. This explains the increased prevalence of cryptorchidism among boys with diseases or syndromes associat...

NKX3.1 and Prostein Expression in Testicular Tissue and Sex Cord-stromal Tumors
In conclusion, NKX3.1 shows routine expression in Sertoli cells and P501S shows routine expression in Leydig cells and rete testis epithelium. In addition, these markers can be positive in sex cord-stromal tumors and rete testis adenocarcinoma. (Source: The American Journal of Surgical Pathology)

Predominance of Granular Cell Tumours among Testicular Tumours of Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculi f. dom.)
Publication date: November 2019Source: Journal of Comparative Pathology, Volume 173Author(s): W. Reineking, F. Seehusen, A. Lehmbecker, P. WohlseinSummaryTesticular neoplasms are reported rarely in pet and laboratory rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculi f. dom.), with interstitial cell tumours being the most commonly described testicular neoplasm. In this retrospective study, paraffin wax-embedded testicles with neoplastic changes from 52 rabbits were investigated. Five out of 52 animals exhibited more than one tumour type, resulting in a total of 57 tumours. Granular cell tumours were the most prevalent neoplasm with 36 examples...

Androgen-Secreting Ovarian Tumors.
Authors: Macut D, Ilić D, Mitrović Jovanović A, Bjekić-Macut J Abstract About 1% of ovarian tumors that comprise testicular cell types can cause hyperandrogenism followed by characteristic virilization. Androgenic group of tumors originated mainly from sex-cord stromal ovarian tumors are including steroid cell tumors, Leydig tumors, granulosa cell tumors, Sertoli cell tumors, Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors, gonadoblastomas, and some other rare forms as ovarian metastases from neuroendocrine tumors. Germline or somatic mutations in some genes like DICER1, STK11, and FOXL2 are associated with the development...

Persistent Mullerian duct Syndrome in a Brazilian miniature schnauzer dog.
This report emphasizes the importance of cytogenetic and molecular genetic analyses, along with clinical examination, to identify chromosomal or genetic variations associated with canine PMDS. These are helpful tools to obtain early diagnosis in the MS, which is important to improve health outcomes for affected dogs and to reduce the prevalence of PMDS and cryptorchidism in this breed by avoiding the mating of carriers. INSL3 Expression in Leydig Cell Hyperplasia and Leydig Cell Tumors
In conclusion, our results contrast with those of previously published studies, and show that the great majority of LCTs are negative or have decreased expression of INSL3 while its expression is retained in LCH. INSL3 negative nodules within LCH may represent early LCTs. INSL3 immunostaining could be helpful to highlight LCs in cases where it is difficult to identify them (ie, small testicular biopsies performed for infertility workup) and in the differential diagnosis between florid LCH and LCT. Pharmacological inhibition of TLR4/NF ‐κB with TLR4‐IN‐C34 attenuated microcystin‐leucine arginine toxicity in bovine Sertoli cells
This study investigated the pharmacological inhibition of the toll ‐like receptor 4 (TLR4) genes as a measure to attenuate microcystin‐LR (MC‐LR) reproductive toxicity. Bovine Sertoli cells were pretreated with TLR4‐IN‐C34 (C34) for 1 hour. Thereafter the pretreated and non‐pretreated Sertoli cells were cultured in medium containing 10% heat‐activate d fetal bovine serum + 80 μg/L MC‐LR for 24 hours to assess the ability of TLR4‐IN‐C34 to attenuate the toxic effects of MC‐LR. The results showed that TLR4‐IN‐C34 inhibited MC‐LR‐induced mitochondria membrane damage, mitophagy and downregul...

Large-cell calcifying Sertoli cell tumour with macrocalcification in partially resected testis of young adult patient.
We present the clinicopathological features of a young adult, with unilateral "stone-like" LCCSCT, without changes in hormonal status and no clinical characteristics of noted genetic disorders. CASE REPORT: A 24-year-old male presented with painless hardening of the right testis. There was no gynaecomastia, and serum levels of human chorionic gonadotropin and α-fetoprotein were normal. Ultrasound depicted hyperechogenic, clearly demarcated intratesticular lesion. Partial orchiectomy was performed. Macroscopically, tumour appeared as almost entirely calcified round mass, measuring 10 mm. Histopathological evaluatio...

Ovarian Sex Cord-stromal Tumors With Melanin Pigment: Report of a Previously Undescribed Phenomenon
We report 2 ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors, a luteinized adult granulosa cell tumor and a cellular fibroma, with melanin pigment. These occurred in 44 and 61-yr-old patients, respectively. As far as we are aware, melanin pigment has not been described previously in an ovarian sex cord-stromal tumor, although it has been reported in a testicular Sertoli cell tumor. We review ovarian neoplasms containing melanin pigment. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Pathology)

Malignant Sertoli cell tumor of the testis masquerading as seminoma with bone metastasis.
We present herein a case of malignant Sertoli cell tumor in a 48-year-old male who was initially misdiagnosed as seminoma based on histology and clinical presentation. Four months later, he presented with symptoms due to bony metastasis and found to have widespread metastatic disease which is a very rare presentation of Sertoli cell tumors. Diagnosis of sex cord-stromal tumor requires high index of suspicion as these tumors are most of the times misdiagnosed as germ cell tumors due to their rare incidence and atypical presentation leading to mismanagement. Timely diagnosis at an early stage can provide therapeutic benefit ...
