STING deletion alleviates podocyte injury through suppressing inflammation by targeting NLRP3 in diabetic kidney disease
This study evaluated the potential role of STING in high glucose (HG)-induced podocyte inflammation response. STING expression was significantly increased in db/db mice, STZ-treated diabetic mice, and HG-treated podocytes. Podocyte-specific deletion of STING alleviated podocyte injury, renal dysfunction, and inflammation in STZ-induced diabetic mice. STING inhibitor (H151) administration ameliorated inflammation and improved renal function in db/db mice. STING deletion in podocytes attenuated the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and podocyte pyroptosis in STZ-induced diabetic mice. In vitro, modulated STING expression ...

The abrogation of GRP78 sensitizes liver cancer cells to lysionotin by enhancing ER stress-mediated pro-apoptotic pathway
Cell Stress Chaperones. 2023 Jun 16. doi: 10.1007/s12192-023-01358-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGlucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) is frequently and highly expressed in various human malignancies and protects cancer cells against apoptosis induced by multifarious stresses, particularly endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER stress). The inhibition of GRP78 expression or activity could enhance apoptosis induced by anti-tumor drugs or compounds. Herein, we will evaluate the efficacy of lysionotin in the treatment of human liver cancer as well as the molecular mechanism. Moreover, we will examine whether inhibition of GRP78 e...

MiR-5590-3p inhibits the proliferation and invasion of ovarian cancer cells through mediating the Wnt/ β-catenin signaling pathway by targeting TNIK
In conclusion, miR-5590-3p may function as a cancer suppressor gene in OC progression through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling by transcriptionally suppressing TNIK expression, which provides a potential therapeutic approach for ovarian cancer treatment.PMID:37318197 | DOI:10.14670/HH-18-636

Targeting Nanog expression increased Cisplatin chemosensitivity and inhibited cell migration in Gastric cancer cells
Exp Cell Res. 2023 Jun 12:113681. doi: 10.1016/j.yexcr.2023.113681. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRegardless of significant advances in cancer treatment, gastric cancer (GC) incidence rate is increasing worldwide. As one of the main transcription factors participating in stemness, Nanog plays a pivotal role in various aspects of tumorigenesis, metastasis, and chemosensitivity. Given that, the current research intended to evaluate the potential effects of Nanog suppression on the GC cell cisplatin chemosensitivity and in vitro tumorigenesis. First, bioinformatics analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of Nanog expres...

Knockdown of circSOD2 ameliorates osteoarthritis progression via the miR-224-5p/PRDX3 axis
CONCLUSION: Hence, our results demonstrated that knockdown of circSOD2 may serve as an intervention strategy to alleviate OA progression through modulating miR-224-5p/PRDX3 signaling axis.PMID:37312219 | DOI:10.1186/s13018-023-03880-9

Linc-ROR Regulates < em > POU5F1 < /em > and < em > SOX2 < /em > by Competitively Binding miR-145-5p to Affect the Proliferation and Migration of Gastric Cancer Cells
In this study, in situ hybridization revealed that long intergenic non-protein coding RNA-regulator of reprogramming (linc-ROR) was highly expressed in gastric cancer cells and was mainly cytoplasmic-positive. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), plate colony formation, wound healing, and Transwell assay revealed that linc-ROR knockdown impedes the growth, proliferation, and migration of gastric cancer cells, while linc-ROR overexpression promoted gastric cancer cell growth, migration, and colony formation ability. Combined with previous studies, the molecular mechanism axis of linc-ROR/miR-145-5-5p/POU5F1/SOX2 was verified. The e...
