Cancers, Vol. 14, Pages 5395: Recreational Drugs and the Risk of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
drade Recreational or aesthetic drug use is a distinctive behavior of humans, principally attested in the last century. It is known that recreational and illegal drugs are major contributors to the universal morbidity rate worldwide. Many of these substances have a well-established hepatotoxic potential, causing acute or chronic liver injury, liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, but their implications for hepatocellular carcinoma or other varieties of liver tumors are little known. In this article, we perform an extensive literature review, aiming to provide updated information about recreational drug use and the risk of deve...

Dough kneading exposure at the kitchen workstation: Influence on handgrip strength and implications for therapy in hand rehabilitation
CONCLUSION: Findings suggest that exposure to dough kneading has a positive influence on hand grip strength. Hand grip strength of non-kneaders was lowest compared to habitual and occupational kneaders. Kneading intervention improved hand grip strength and hence can be used therapeutically as a safe, low cost exercise in hand rehabilitation.PMID:36214014 | DOI:10.3233/WOR-210963 (Source: Work)

Flavokawain A is a natural inhibitor of PRMT5 in bladder cancer
CONCLUSIONS: In summary, our research strongly suggests that PRMT5 is a potential epigenetic therapeutic target in bladder cancer, and that FKA can be used as a targeted inhibitor of PRMT5 for the treatment of bladder cancer.PMID:36199122 | DOI:10.1186/s13046-022-02500-4 (Source: Cell Research)

Sensors, Vol. 22, Pages 7008: Comparison of Mobile Phone and CCD Cameras for Electrochemiluminescent Detection of Biogenic Amines
in M. Gross Biogenic amines are an important and widely studied class of molecules due to their link to the physiological processes of food-related illnesses and histamine poisoning. Electrochemiluminescent (ECL) detection offers an inexpensive and portable analytical method of detection for biogenic amines when coupled with recent advancements in low-cost carbon-based electrodes and a smartphone camera. In this work, a mobile phone camera was evaluated against a piece of conventional instrumentation, the charge-coupled device, for the detection of ECL from the reaction of biogenic amines with the luminescent compound ...
