Mp40-15 does mri perform differently in men undergoing targeted biopsy for evaluation of prostate cancer versus those on active surveillance?
Multi-parametric MRI (mpMRI) of the prostate has emerged as the most reliable method for localizing prostate cancer(pCa). We compared mpMRI performance for detection of pCa between men being evaluated for pCa and those considering active surveillance (AS). (Source: The Journal of Urology)

Molecules, Vol. 23, Pages 616: Design, Synthesis and Docking Studies of Flavokawain B Type Chalcones and Their Cytotoxic Effects on MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 Cell Lines
Ul-Haq Syed Shah Flavokawain B (1) is a natural chalcone extracted from the roots of Piper methysticum, and has been proven to be a potential cytotoxic compound. Using the partial structure of flavokawain B (FKB), about 23 analogs have been synthesized. Among them, compounds 8, 13 and 23 were found in new FKB derivatives. All compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic properties against two breast cancer cell lines, MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231, thus establishing the structure–activity relationship. The FKB derivatives 16 (IC50 = 6.50 ± 0.40 and 4.12 ± 0.20 μg/mL), 15 (IC50 = 5.50 ± 0.35 and 6.50 ± 1.40 μg/mL) and...

TFCC Injuries: Meta-Analysis and Comparison of Diagnostic Imaging Modalities
Conclusion This study represents the largest meta-analysis to date to compare multiple imaging modalities for the diagnosis of TFCC injuries. Pooled data demonstrated that CTA and MRA had statistically equivalent sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of TFCC injuries. Diagnostic accuracy was highest for central TFCC injuries. Protective effects of yangonin from an edible botanical Kava against lithocholic acid-induced cholestasis and hepatotoxicity.
In conclusions, yangonin produces protective effect against LCA-induced hepatotoxity and cholestasis due to FXR-mediated regulation. Yangonin may be an effective approach for the prevention against cholestatic liver diseases. PMID: 29427579 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: European Journal of Pharmacology)

The Impact of Immediate Salvage Surgery on Corporeal Length Preservation in Patients Presenting with Penile Implant Infections
Removal of an infected penile implant often results in corporeal fibrosis, irreversible penile shortening and dissatisfaction with future implant surgery. Salvage surgery may avoid these problems but to our knowledge no study to date has evaluated these specific end points. We evaluated patients who presented to our center with an infected implant to determine the impact of salvage surgery on penile length. (Source: The Journal of Urology)

RecBCD (Exonuclease V) is inhibited by DNA adducts produced by cisplatin and ultraviolet light.
In this study, DNA sequences were damaged with cisplatin or UV followed by RecBCD treatment. DNA damaging agents such as cisplatin and UV induce the formation of intrastrand adducts in the DNA template. It was demonstrated that RecBCD degradation was inhibited by either cisplatin-damaged or UV-damaged DNA sequences. This is the first occasion that RecBCD has been demonstrated to be inhibited by DNA adducts induced by cisplatin or UV. In addition, we quantified the amounts of DNA remaining after RecBCD treatment and observed that the level of inhibition was concentration and dose dependent. A DNA-targeted 9-aminoacridinecar...
