Hopelessness and Social Support among Cancer Patients in Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSION: The findings of the present study suggest that the levels of hopelessness in cancer patients are moderate, and the levels of social support received by participants are high. In addition, the relationship between the levels of hopelessness and the levels of social support received is inversely proportional.PMID:38679998 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1363 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

NestedBD: Bayesian inference of phylogenetic trees from single-cell copy number profiles under a birth-death model
Algorithms Mol Biol. 2024 Apr 29;19(1):18. doi: 10.1186/s13015-024-00264-4.ABSTRACTCopy number aberrations (CNAs) are ubiquitous in many types of cancer. Inferring CNAs from cancer genomic data could help shed light on the initiation, progression, and potential treatment of cancer. While such data have traditionally been available via "bulk sequencing," the more recently introduced techniques for single-cell DNA sequencing (scDNAseq) provide the type of data that makes CNA inference possible at the single-cell resolution. We introduce a new birth-death evolutionary model of CNAs and a Bayesian method, NestedBD, for the inf...

Preclinical evaluation of AGTR1-Targeting molecular probe for colorectal cancer imaging in orthotopic and liver metastasis mouse models
Eur J Med Chem. 2024 Apr 27;271:116452. doi: 10.1016/j.ejmech.2024.116452. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDespite advancements in colorectal cancer (CRC) treatment, the prognosis remains unfavorable for patients with distant liver metastasis. Fluorescence molecular imaging with specific probes is increasingly used to guide CRC surgical resection in real-time and treatment planning. Here, we demonstrate the targeted imaging capacity of an MPA-PEG4-N3-Ang II probe labeled with near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent dye targeting the angiotensin II (Ang II) type 1 receptor (AGTR1) that is significantly upregulated in CRC. MPA-PEG4-N3...

OSW-1 triggers necroptosis in colorectal cancer cells through the RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL signaling pathway facilitated by the RIPK1-p62/SQSTM1 complex
CONCLUSION: We propose that OSW-1 can induce necroptosis through the RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL signaling pathway, and that this effect is mediated by the RIPK1-p62/SQSTM1 complex, in CRC cells. These results provide a theoretical foundation for the use of OSW-1 in the clinical treatment of CRC.PMID:38681991 | PMC:PMC11045482 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i15.2155 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology)
