Cancer screening with multicancer detection tests: A translational science review
CA Cancer J Clin. 2024 Mar 22. doi: 10.3322/caac.21833. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMulticancer detection (MCD) tests use a single, easily obtainable biospecimen, such as blood, to screen for more than one cancer concurrently. MCD tests can potentially be used to improve early cancer detection, including cancers that currently lack effective screening methods. However, these tests have unknown and unquantified benefits and harms. MCD tests differ from conventional cancer screening tests in that the organ responsible for a positive test is unknown, and a broad diagnostic workup may be necessary to confirm the location and...

Randomized controlled trial of an app for cancer pain management
ConclusionsThe primary obstacle encountered in the development of applications for managing cancer-related discomfort lies in the sensitive nature of the subject matter, potentially leading to patient apprehension regarding application usage for pain management. Consequently, meticulous attention to user preferences and anticipations is imperative, necessitating the creation of an application characterized by user-friendliness and medical efficacy.Trial registrationChinese Clinical Trials Registry ChiCTR1800016066;http://www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=27153. Detection of endometrial cancer in cervico-vaginal fluid and blood plasma: leveraging proteomics and machine learning for biomarker discovery
EBioMedicine. 2024 Mar 20;102:105064. doi: 10.1016/j.ebiom.2024.105064. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: The anatomical continuity between the uterine cavity and the lower genital tract allows for the exploitation of uterine-derived biomaterial in cervico-vaginal fluid for endometrial cancer detection based on non-invasive sampling methodologies. Plasma is an attractive biofluid for cancer detection due to its simplicity and ease of collection. In this biomarker discovery study, we aimed to identify proteomic signatures that accurately discriminate endometrial cancer from controls in cervico-vaginal fluid and bloo...

The 4th arm solution: an easy answer to the robotic hysterectomy without a uterine manipulator
We describe how to use a 4th arm on the robot to overcome these challenges. Research has shown that adding a 4th arm is not associated with increased length of stay, operative/docking time, or intraoperative/postoperative docking times. (Yim GW et al. (2018) Perioperative Outcomes of 3-arm vs 4-arm Robotic Radical Hysterectomy in Patients with Cervical Cancer. Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology July-Aug 25(5):823-831). Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1241: Long-Term Follow-Up Outcomes in Women with In Situ/Microinvasive Adenocarcinoma of the Uterine Cervix Undergoing Conservative Treatment & mdash;Cervical Adenocarcinoma Study Group Italian Society of Colposcopy and Cervico-Vaginal Pathology
Conclusion: HPV testing in follow-up is of pivotal importance in women with early glandular lesions undergoing conservative treatment, given its recurrence predictive value. However, women who are high-risk HPV-negative in follow-up with non-usual-type histopathology may represent a sub-population at increased risk of recurrences. Further studies should confirm these findings. (Source: Cancers)

A comparative study of mono-exponential and advanced diffusion-weighted imaging in differentiating stage IA endometrial carcinoma from benign endometrial lesions
ConclusionAdvanced diffusion-weighted imaging models have good performance for differentiating IAEC from EH and endometrial thickening. Among all of the diffusion parameters, K showed the best performance and was the only independent predictor. Diffusion kurtosis imaging was defined as the most valuable model in the current context. The Application of Nanotechnological Therapeutic Platforms against Gynecological Cancers
Curr Pharm Des. 2024 Mar 18. doi: 10.2174/0113816128291955240306112558. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGynecological cancers (GCs), ovarian, cervical, and endometrial/uterine cancers, are often associated with poor outcomes. Despite the development of several therapeutic modalities against GCs, the effectiveness of the current therapeutic approaches is limited due to their side effects, low therapeutic index, short halflife, and resistance to therapy. To overcome these limitations, nano delivery-based approaches have been introduced with the potential of targeted delivery, reduced toxicity, controlled release, and improved ...
