Mutations in cancer-relevant genes are ubiquitous in histologically normal endometrial tissue
CONCLUSIONS: An important caveat for future liquid biopsy/DNA-based cancer diagnostics is the repertoire of shared and distinct mutation profiles between histologically unremarkable and EndoCA tissues. The lack of selection pressure between functional and non-functional mutations in histologically unremarkable uterine tissue may offer a glimpse into an unrecognized EndoCA protective mechanism.PMID:38452634 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.02.027 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Dynamic changes in AI-based analysis of endometrial cellular composition: Analysis of PCOS and RIF endometrium
CONCLUSION: The AI model rapidly and accurately identifies endometrial histology features by calculating areas occupied by epithelial and stromal cells. The AI model demonstrates changes in epithelial cellular proportions according to the menstrual cycle phase and reveals no changes in epithelial cellular proportions based on PCOS and RIF conditions. In conclusion, the AI model can potentially improve endometrial histology assessment by accelerating the analysis of the cellular composition of the tissue and by ensuring maximal objectivity for research and clinical purposes.PMID:38445292 | PMC:PMC10914580 | DOI:10.1016/j.jp...

Breast lump as the initial presentation of metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma: a case report and comprehensive literature review
Croat Med J. 2024 Feb 29;65(1):51-58.ABSTRACTUterine leiomyosarcoma (uLMS) is a rare but aggressive cancer with a high metastatic potential and an unfavorable prognosis. A 54-year-old woman with a history of uterine fibroids clinically presented with a painless, palpable left breast mass measuring 20 mm. A core biopsy of the breast mass demonstrated a cellular spindle cell neoplasm (a potentially malignant smooth muscle neoplasm; B4). A wide local breast-mass excision was performed, revealing grade-2 leiomyosarcoma. A re-review of the uterine fibroids revealed that the largest one (200 × 130 mm), initially diagnosed as sy...

Less than whole uterus irradiation for patients with locally advanced cervical cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Including less than the whole uterus for definitive cervix cancer IMRT does not seem to compromise local control. Less than whole uterus irradiation could be considered for carefully selected cervix cancer patients to decrease bowel dose and possible treatment-related toxicity.PMID:38438017 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2024.110199 (Source: Radiotherapy and Oncology : journal of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology)
