Efficacy and Toxicity of Vincristine and CYP3A5 Genetic Polymorphism in Rhabdomyosarcoma Pediatric Egyptian Patients
CONCLUSION: CYP3A5*1/*1 have less severe vincristine-induced neuropathy than CYP3A5 *1/*3, CYP3A5 *1/*6 and CYP3A5 *3/*3, CYP3A5 *3/*6. There is a significant influence of CYP3A5 mutation on neuropathy grade and assist of ADL as a part of neurotoxicity.PMID:38680001 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1391 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Epidemiology of Uterine Cancer in Sarawak, Borneo, A 20-Year Review
CONCLUSION: The incidence of primary uterine cancer in Sarawak, Malaysia, has increased over the past 20 years, with higher incidence rates observed in older age groups and among Chinese women. The findings suggest the need for continued efforts to improve the prevention, early detection, and treatment of uterine cancer in Sarawak.PMID:38679973 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1143 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

The KRAS, ATR and CHEK1 expression levels in endometrial cancer are the risk factors predicting recurrence
In this study, we found significantly elevated mRNA expression levels of the oncoprotei nKRAS, along with two replicative stress markers,ATR andCHEK1, in samples of endometrial carcinomas of endometrium (ECE) from patients with relapse. In contrast, mRNA expression levels of the studied genes were low and uniform in samples from patients without relapse. Elevated levels of KRAS protein and the phosphorylated form of ATR/CHEK1 were distinguishing features of recurrent ECE. A strong positive correlation was found between elevated mRNA and protein levels of the studied molecules. Elevated KRAS protein levels are characteristi...

Synergistic effect of human uterine cervical mesenchymal stem cell secretome and paclitaxel on triple negative breast cancer
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, our data demonstrate the synergistic effect of the combination of CM-hUCESC with paclitaxel on TNBC and opens an opportunity to reduce the dose of the chemotherapeutic agents, which may decrease chemotherapy-related toxicity.PMID:38664697 | DOI:10.1186/s13287-024-03717-0 (Source: Cell Research)

A new missense mutation c.1240A & gt;G in fumarate hydratase gene leads to uterine leiomyoma associated hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer (HLRCC) syndrome in Chinese
CONCLUSION: This research adds a novel missense mutation to the repertoire of FH gene variants, emphasizing its likely pathogenic nature based on a multidimensional analysis of phenotype, family history, and literature evidence. The findings enhance our understanding of the genetic landscape associated with FH and underscore the importance of thorough characterization for accurate variant classification.PMID:38663218 | DOI:10.1016/j.tranon.2024.101963 (Source: Translational Oncology)

Gynecologic perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComas): a review of recent evidence
Arch Gynecol Obstet. 2024 Apr 25. doi: 10.1007/s00404-024-07510-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGynecologic perivascular epithelioid cell (PEC) tumors, or 'PEComas,' represent a rare and intriguing subset of tumors within the female reproductive tract. This systematic literature review aims to provide an updated understanding of gynecologic PEComas based on available literature and data. Although PEComa is rare, there are varied tumor-site presentations across gynecologic organs, with uterine PEComas being the most prevalent. There is scarce high-quality literature regarding gynecologic PEComa, and studies on malignant PE...

Comparing symptom clusters in cancer survivors by cancer diagnosis: A latent class profile analysis
ConclusionIdentifying symptom subgroups by cancer diagnosis has the potential to develop innovative and effective targeted interventions in cancer survivors. Further research is needed to establish extensive knowledge in symptom clustering between treatment regimens, and short-term and long-term cancer survivors. (Source: Supportive Care in Cancer)

Automatic segmentation of tumour and organs at risk in 3D MRI for cervical cancer radiation therapy with anatomical variations
Phys Eng Sci Med. 2024 Apr 24. doi: 10.1007/s13246-024-01415-y. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCervical cancer is a common cancer in women globally, with treatment usually involving radiation therapy (RT). Accurate segmentation for the tumour site and organ-at-risks (OARs) could assist in the reduction of treatment side effects and improve treatment planning efficiency. Cervical cancer Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) segmentation is challenging due to a limited amount of training data available and large inter- and intra- patient shape variation for OARs. The proposed Masked-Net consists of a masked encoder within the 3D U...
