Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 241: Astragalus Polysaccharide Alleviates Ulcerative Colitis by Regulating the Balance of mTh17/mTreg Cells through TIGIT/CD155 Signaling
In conclusion, APS effectively alleviated DSS-induced UC in mice by regulating the balance between mTh17/mTreg cells, which was mainly achieved through regulation of the TIGIT/CD155 signaling pathway. (Source: Molecules)

Complanatuside A improves functional recovery after spinal cord injury through inhibiting JNK signaling-mediated microglial activation
CONCLUSIONS: ComA can accelerate the restoration of motor function in mice after SCI, possibly by reducing neuronal apoptosis via inhibition of JNK-related signaling pathways, a reduction in microglial activation, and inhibition of inflammatory factor release. Our data indicate that ComA is a promising drug candidate for improving functional recovery in patients with SCI.PMID:38158110 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejphar.2023.176287 (Source: European Journal of Pharmacology)

The ileal microbiome and mucosal immune profiles in response to dietary supplementation of ultra-grinded Astragalus membranaceus in weaned goats
This study investigated the effects of ultra-grinded A. membranaceus (UGAM) on the immune function and microbial community in the ileum of weaned goats. Eighteen healthy weaned Xiangdong black goats (BW, 5.30 ± 1.388 kg) were used in a study of completely randomized block design with 28 days long. The animals were randomly assigned to either a basal diet supplemented with 10 g/d of milk replacer (CON, n = 9) or the CON diet supplemented with 10 g/head UGAM (UGAM, n = 9). Supplementation of UGAM increased (p < 0.05) the plasma concentrations of total protein and albumin. Meanwhile, the addition of UGAM...

Dietary Qi-Weng-Huangbo powder enhances growth performance, diarrhoea and immune function of weaned piglets by modulating gut health and microbial profiles
In conclusion, dietary PCE reduced diarrhoea rates, improved growth performance and enhanced immune function in weaned piglets. These improvements were potentially supported by altered ileum and colonic morphology, elevated colonic VFA levels, and modulation of colonic microbial profiles. (Source: Frontiers in Immunology)

Astragalus polysaccharide promotes the regeneration of intestinal stem cells through HIF-1 signalling pathway
This study was aimed to investigate the potential effects of APS on IR-induced intestine injury via promoting the regeneration of ISCs. We have established models of IR-induced intestinal injury and our results showed that APS played great radioprotective effects on the intestine. APS improved the survival rate of irradiated mice, reversed the radiation damage of intestinal tissue, increased the survival rate of intestinal crypts, the number of ISCs and the expression of intestinal tight junction-related proteins after IR. Moreover, APS promoted the cell viability while inhibited the apoptosis of MODE-K. Through organoid e...

Astragaloside IV alleviates LPS-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and collagen expression associated with CCL2-mediated activation of NF- κB signaling pathway
Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2023 Dec 9;693:149367. doi: 10.1016/j.bbrc.2023.149367. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCardiac remodeling (CR), characterized by cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis, leads to the development and progression of heart failure (HF). Nowadays, emerging evidence implicated that inflammation plays a vital role in the pathogenesis of CR and HF. Astragaloside IV (AS-IV), an effective component of Astragalus membranaceus, exerts cardio-protective and anti-inflammatory effects, but the underlying mechanism remains not fully elucidated. This present study aimed to investigate the effects of AS-IV on cardiac hy...
